What if confronting the climate crisis is the best chance we'll ever get to build a better world? Filmed over 211 shoot days in nine countries and five continents over four years, This Changes Everything is an epic attempt to re-imagine the vast challenge of climate change. The film presents seven portraits of communities on the front lines, from Montana's Powder River Basin to the Alberta Tar Sands, from the coast of South India to Beijing and beyond. (imdb)

Klein wants to change two stories: the story by which nature is a machine the levers of which are in human possession, and the story by which environmentalism is about polar bears rather than about "us". But the filmmakers utterly accept the most conventional forms of cinematic storytelling, thereby reducing the documentary instrument to a means. And in so doing they reduce the audience, who learn almost nothing, to a political means, that is, to a machine whose levers are to be controlled.

Maybe the most important documentary I've seen in 2015, unfortunately not the best one. Naomi Klein is a bit annoying to listen to. But watch it, nevertheless. For, alas, the world is fucked.
