Fragmented and flawed for obvious reasons, but the overall impression is nothing short of 'WOW!" Weeks before his death the King of Pop was still reigning both the stage as well as his magical moves and signature songs. A worthy swan song for one of the all-time greatest entertainers

Fantastic with all the best songs of Michael and my favourite song : Billie Jean, what a great dance-performance with almost no public. Beautiful colors. Pretty good.

A chance to glimpse inside the artistic process of a singularly talented performer as he prepares what would have been a remarkable and spectacular return to the stage. No doubt it was compiled from the available footage with a certain degree of haste, but the filmmakers have done a commendable job and succeed in conveying both the actuality of the rehearsals and the potentiality of what was unfortunately if not indeed tragically destined to remain unfulfilled. More footage at close of credits.

Michael had the energy and the passion up to the final days. To see him in rehearsal, obviously holding back a little as not to strain his voice, he still sounded nearly the same as on his records. His voice was perfect and his attitude was awesome. Any 50 year old would be hard pressed to have that kind of stage presence! Makes for an awesome "behind-the-scenes" look at what would have been a magical tour.

A pretty decent retelling of the last days of Michael Jackson, the King of Pop. Pretty interesting to see Michael more closely, and not in a courtroom or on the tabloids. Seeing this made me really sad but at the same time really happy to have been around for Michael Jackson's time. As a concert film, it was pretty well made, but It needed more interviews.

While certain facets of this are certainly money grabs (only showing it for two weeks, charging about 20% more than a regular ticket for what is in honesty not exactly even a feature film and what certainly did not cost as much to make as a feature film considering that it consists entirely of already shot material - what, exactly, is the justification for this?), MJ shows such talent, such devotion, such love for what he does, such a prescence that it's hard not to be left in awe.

A genius at work. And to think: it was clear he was only walking through the routines; if he had gotten the chance to do it flat out, the results would have been incredible.

I think it is impossible to watch this film and not love music. When you don't like music, you just have to fall in love watching this. This is much more than a show, when you see MJ, you realize it's a piece of art you're watching. He was one of the greatest, will always be one of the greatest imo!

What a shame he died before this show could hit the road, it would have been truely fantastic. All accusations aside this man was a genius and truely the king of pop.

A real shame that Michael passed away. He's just going through the motions in this, and makes it look so easy. The concert would've been fantastic.

I wonder; when they did autopsy on MJ if they found the musical director up his ass. What a suck-up. Other than that, an interesting look of MJ behind the scenes. He was truly the king of pop. On a side-note: can somebody make a documentary about these background dancers? It looks likes there's a intriguing hidden world to explore and expose.

This has all the great songs and paints both a comic and touching portrait of Michael as a man and as an artist. Unfortunately not all of the songs are performed 100% because they are rehearsal footage but some of them are simply brilliant. Well worth seeing for any fan of MJ.

Jackson's abilities r well known. What's revealed here is how deeply involved the man was in any&all aspects of his performances & the level of commitment 2 creating nothing less than groundbreaking spectacle -in this case, a farewell tour.Unfortunately since the film gives u constant glimpses into the epic he had in mind, it's hard not 2 feel gypped that ur spending ur time watching rehearsals -however much talent is on display- instead of seeing the mind-blowing extravaganza that never was

A little unfocused and, not being a Jackson fan, this got a little old but it was still reasonably enjoyable. The backstage views of preparing a show were interesting and the underlying tensions between Michael, the manager and the often confused background performers were pretty funny. Certainly it was more substantive than the fluffy idolatry I expected.

I downloaded this movie from iTunes the day it was released. I thought I would just watch a few minutes that night to see what it was like and then watch the whole thing later. I couldn't stop watching it. Even the credits. When I saw the kind of shape he was in and how dedicated to his craft he was, I was in awe. If Kenny Ortega had been watching out for MJ's interests 24x7, he would still be alive today. This was an incredible movie for those who grew up in the Michael Jackson era.

Despite its haste to be released its actually pretty well made. The full concert experience is never unleashed and you see the side of Jackson you want (not the one in the tabloids). No doubt perfection was going to be the target which only leaves you thinking - 'if only'.

Good. This is a behind the scenes look at MJ's rehearsals for his last big tour. It clearly lacks the intimacy and personal touches expected from the man's very last film, more like a last ditch attempt to capitalize off the King of Pop's death. But still, the man could moves even at 50 making this film a great addition to any fans' library and that is the audience its Recommended for.

Much more than a simple song-and-dance; this film actually shows some of Jackson's creative process too. Way better than I was expecting. It's remarkable that Jackson is 50 years old and can still out-dance the best dancers from around the world who are roughly half his age, while singing an entire repertoire which he mostly wrote himself. Extraordinarily rare talent and creative vision. If this had made it to the stage it probably would have been one of the greatest shows on earth.

A sad film about what could have been. With no real interviews outside of the occasional "Michael's the greatest, what an honor it is to work with him, he's a genius" it gets a bit old. It doesn't even count for a good concert film because many times Mike himself says "I'm saving my voice so I'm not gonna sing that". Definitely a film only for the diehard fans.

This is Shit. A cash grab on the part of the producers, this "documentary" consists of a series of scenes demonstrating a clearly past-his-prime Michael Jackson try to sing and dance like he did 30 years ago. If you are a Michael Jackson fan and want your heart broken, watch this.

For years I had wondered if Michael Jackson still had it. He had it...in spades. "This Is It" is the fan service concert that everyone was probably waiting for. It covered nearly all of Michael Jackson's career, spanning all to the way back to his Jackson 5 days. Even though Michael Jackson was about 50 years old, he could still sing and dance with the best of them. This film proved it. Michael Jackson was, and probably always will be, the greatest entertainer who ever lived. This Is It

This is curtains, much sooner than Jackson meant when he announced a series of comeback concerts cancelled by his sudden death: "This is the final curtain call." The rehearsal footage for that event, intended for Jackson's "personal library," has here been assembled not with journalistic purpose but rather eulogistic, a best-face scenario, essentially a sequence of planned song-and-dance numbers pieced together from different rehearsals, with different costumes within a single number.

Essentially a poor quality greatest hits DVD, the only insight we gain from the rehearsals is that Jackson was pushing himself to the limit for these shows, and the strain - while not pronounced - is certainly visible. His moves are still quite smooth but the "saving my voice" line is a lousy excuse for repeatedly singing out of key. Would his final concerts have been a fitting send-off for the fans? Probably. Would he have made it through the entire run? It's doubtful.

Better than expected! I really enjoyed it although - like Chatiz already mentioned - it was a bit fragmented and flawed. He still seemed very energetic and tried to give people the best concert ever by the looks of it. It's a nice look behind the scenes with lots and lots of music, at times it was a trance like feeling even. [coming from a non-diehard fan] rip MJ

Very impressive docu for what was going to be but sadly was not. It showed the entire song list and how they were developing it. What you never saw was the final output, costumes, stage act and all in together, but what you did see was the Michael touch on every detail on the show. The real Michael Jackson at work in his best. Can we hope to see deleted scenes in extras of DVD release?

it wasn't what expected - in a good way. it was really interesting to see what kind of a person he was and just get a sense of how lonely he was, even though he was so liked ... also it was crazy to see how much effort went into making his concert - if that concert had happened, it would have been the most epic thing of life.

I think this was ultimately more suited as a movie-theater experience rather than an at-home experience. This would have been an epic show, and the grandiosity of the spectacle on film lived up to the master's vision. Unfortunately, I feel as though this film will never live down the notion of "cashing in" on MJ's death, and maybe that's a legit criticism (not so much of the film itself but of its mere existence). Shows yet another side of the charismatic enigma that was Michael Jackson. RIP.

The intro text of this "movie" says that the footage was filmed to be used in MJ's upcoming tour and for his personal collection. You can tell; this film feels like an afterthought. It's just random clips from rehearsals. The movie is extremely boring. It's also sad and awkward to watch what is left of MJ at this stage in his life. Only a die-hard MJ fan would find this at all interesting.

You gotta love the commitment and feeling swimming through every inch of film here. If it wasn't THIS, exactly, I'd throw up, but hey this guy is so impressive. You just let that jaw fall in awe - the energy pulsates through every minute. But it gets a bit too long, eventually. I like the narration though, building it up as the show would've been, and the editing is superb. And the female guitarist is both rock'n'roll and extremely fit. Dips.

This manages not to be completely mediocre by taking a look at Jackson's good and bad moments. We see the King of Pop fret over particulars as well as truly nice moments with him entertaining his crew with one of his hit songs. This is a fitting understated good bye to one of the world's most popular entertainers. The drawback is that it probably could have addressed his personal thoughts about the tour a bit more. There was a lot of window dressing in Jackson's life and also in death.

Considering much of the footage was most probably not meant for the public domain, "This Is It" has been strung together competently. There is no doubting Jackson's talent, but towards his end he was looking and acting like some sort of Tim Burton caricature. In reality there is nothing more than morbid fascination here. It will hold your attention because of who Jackson was, his talent, & the unusual elements of his personality. Interesting, but not essential.

Nothing more than skilfully cobbled together rehearsal footage from a grand farewell tour that never was. It provides no insight into the enigma of MJ, other than showing how deeply involved with every aspect of his music and stage shows he was. Considering the deeply private person, and the perfectionist he was, I have my doubts about whether this bunch of half-finished rehearsal footage is something he'd have approved of. But for a fan of his music (and everyone should be) it's worth a watch.

Not tremendously intimate but it does feel like we're getting past the first of what must have been the many barriers of Michael Jackson. It's clear in what little we see that he's a tremendously emotional (and probably sensitive) person so it's a shame that we don't get to know him better. That may be a strength of the show as well as it gives us the slightest peek of the man without entirely pulling the veil back so that we're still enraptured with the entertainer/icon/mystique.
