This Much I Know to Be True

Nick Cave undoubtedly has musical talent, but I’ve never really been very interested in his music or its themes, and there is something in his voice that doesn’t appeal. This documentary gives this uninformed viewer the feeling that Warren Ellis might have made a significant difference to the quality of the output, but also that Ellis might have been artistically better off if he had teamed up with someone else. Clearly the filmmaker loves both of them.

A follow-up to the previous Dominik Nick Cave documentary "One More Time with Feeling". This one is even more just beautiful registrations of songs being recorded. With less interviews this one is slightly less interesting and has less emotional depth than its predecessor. Most insightful moments are when Cave tells about the personal growth he’s undergoing.
