Enjoyable, colorful, quippy nonsense with charismatic actors and breezy characters. Every time Immigrant Song played I got the biggest goofgrin, and I really enjoyed the otherwise synthy soundtrack. Thumbs up to the Kirby-ness of the designs and sets. I apparently have a huuuge weakness for Cate Blanchett going all goth and bothered. All in all I liked this for superficial comicgeek reasons and don't feel bad about that one damn bit.

I was left sitting there gobsmacked, a good Thor movie, it must've been the vape smoke some fat monster was blowing in the theater, it was just us and if I went to tattle it would be obvious, I was trapped, I was like Thor in that tron wheelchair and the shock patch thing . Totally powerless, I had a weird moment of walking in a characters shoes and feel what they felt moment. My after credit scene was quietly complaining to management while Tupac played softly

The only complaint I heard was that the humor was misplaced. I honestly thought this was a well-balanced superhero movie with enough thrills, action, seriousness, and humor as well, even if the humor rarely seems out of place. I laughed out loud quite a bit myself, and then last 20 minutes brought me back to how I felt about the last act of Civil War. This honestly felt like a solid 3rd movie in a trilogy. Highly entertaining and well-done MCU film, and my favorite Thor movie. Highly recommend!

Easily the best Thor movie. Closer in tone to Guardian of the Galaxy with director Taika Waititi trademark humour clear onscreen. Hemsworth as Thor is great and the other characters are entertaining while Jeff Goldblum basically plays himself. Blanchette as Hela is fun to watch but unfortunately doesn't end up making much of an impact. Very colourful and a bit CGI heavy. The story is quite messy with plot threads left dangling but the ending is pretty good. Probably Marvel's funniest film so far

Everything that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 already was, but better, despite sort of being disappointingly similar, except the jokes land more often, although they have to do the superhero template things, albeit not the exact same old bland storyline, nevertheless falls into those tropes through a necessity that isn't real, on the other hand it WAS fun, still an improvement in every way, in spite of that familiar taste, all the same a joyful film, notwithstanding the lingering meh feeling.

Easily the best Thor movie yet. Not coincidentally, the first to ditch Portman and inject some substantive Asgard backstory. It's always satisfying to see the intertwining of the MCU, but I really felt like Cumberbatch was shoe horned in for no good reason. Hopefully, Marvel gets some more entries in before they tire Hemsworth out. But for now, enjoy the ride, and the Zeppelin...several times over.

This is the most bizarre and "80's" Marvel franchise film to date. If you like Flash Gordan, Escape from NY, Big Trouble in little China you will love this.Goldblum needs to be cast as Ming the Mercilous asap. Hemsworth is not just a pretty face but has real comedic chops. The plot is predictable but the sheer weirdness elevates it significantly above other Marvel films. You have to hand it to Mothersbaugh for creating a score that pushes all sorts of nostalgia buttons.

Ragnarok is a blast. Fun, vibrant, full of laughs and never lets it self get bogged down too much in hero tropes. Hemsworth being joined by a very Jeffy Goldblum and the always excellent Blanchett breathe a fresh air of life into the marvel formula. Taika Waititi's Korg is also battling Bad Ape for best sidekick of 2017 ... bro.

I think that Thor Ragnarok is probably on the better side of Marvel movies, and I must say it gets major props for its 80's callbacks, Jeff Goldblum, and use of Zeppelin, but otherwise, parts fall a little flat. Everything is awesome on Sakaar, but everything on Asgard is just a little too boring, uninteresting, or trite. However, for a few scenes, this is absolutely a must-see.

Marvel movies will all be the same until we die and rot away and force our children and our children's children to watch these formulaic movies with every character wise-cracking and having no real weaknesses so no one is different. Then they wait a few months until the next Star Wars movie comes out where an orphan with a robot buddy infiltrates the empire while someone wise-cracks. From the other reviews I think I got a different cut than every other person who saw it.

This sequel treats Thor the way he should have been treated in the first place: as a heavy metal album cover, not a Shakespearian play. A bit much tryhard humor but it doesn't hurt. It also looks great but the heavy reliance on CG might date it a bit in the future. I thought the pacing was off too. Fun, better than the other Thor films for sure, and a good time at the cinema. Points docked for not having any Amon Amarth on the soundtrack though.

Solidly entertaining, with a slightly more campy feel than some of the other Marvel films (a good thing) and added Jeff Goldblum (a very good thing). Loved that weird synth score. Given how 1-note Thor played straight can be, Marvel wisely turned this into much more of a comedy &, also wisely, makes sure to give fan favorites the Hulk & Loki major supporting roles. With this chapter taking such a deep turn into the comedic, enjoyment will vary widely depending on how funny you find all the jokes. Unfortunately, they mostly failed for me. Still there's some decent moments between characters, even if Blanchett's Hela's more great scenery-chewer than well-written villain

The actual main genre of this is comedy. Not a joke. As a comedy it's pretty damn great. It's kind of all over the place in other departments, but the humor, charm and genuine fun in this production makes it impossible to dislike. Side note, it's strange and refreshing to have anal/orgy-related humor and and an alcoholic sidekick in what is (on the bottom line) a Disney movie. Well done to everyone involved, particularly Waititi whose direction is palpable (rare in a film like this).

By a fair margin the best of the Thor trilogy (which is to say, it's the one of the three I actually enjoy), sort of a mishmash of Flash Gordon, Lord of the Rings, Gladiator, and, well, Marvel's own Guardians of the Galaxy. Cate Blanchett and gonzo visual design manage to craft something memorable out of a generic "mwahaha I'm evil for the lulz" villain. The zany gladiatorial middle act of the film is actually the strongest part, with the third act lagging a little into CGI spectacle.

Thor, Loki, Hulk and Valkyrie team up to stop Hela from destroying Asgard. A big, stupid action movie jam packed with bright colors, silly humor and several showstopping CGI fantasy battle sequences. I've said it before and I'll say it again, superhero movies are way better when they don't take themselves seriously at all. This one has the distinct feeling of taking the piss out of the rest of the Marvel Universe, which I fully endorse and appreciate. Thank you, Taika Waititi.

Like any good doomsday myth it's funny and lighthearted. Earth is wisely swapped for Planet Hulk, Jeff Goldblum reprises every role he had on Portlandia, the action is all video game combat, the Devo guy does the music. Villain is poor even by MCU standards but Blanchett brings the right attitude. It's probably the most entertaining Thor movie but the worst Guardians of the Galaxy movie.

Okay, this was a fun movie. Not all the humor lands (that style of "I can't really express myself because I'm a doofus" humor is good for Jeff Goldblum but undermines Thor's nobility, and I'm not one of the Beevises and Buttheads out there - "huhhuh I saw Hulk's butt") but I still laughed a lot, enjoyed the poking fun at superhero tropes, and got really pumped with the ass-kicking to cool music. In all, the kind of comic movie that satisfies.

Definitely the best Thor movie. It was quite nice visually, although it was a bit heavy on the CGI, and some of the action sequences didn't really work that well. Waititi's sense of humour really came across. Blanchett's really good, but while her villain character had some interesting things about her, she was still relatively weak. Some really fun character and actor cameos. It follows the familiar Marvel formula, but it's still an entertaining, fun, and good time at the movies.

Best Thor movie by far and one of the better MCU movies in general. Absolutely hilarious and interesting. Taika Waititi definitely knows how to craft story and wit effortlessly. there were a lot of parts to this movie looking back and if DC had control of this movie, it would probably be an incoherent mess. Really shows how good marvel is at crafting their universe, even when its chaotic, it has form, it has purpose, it moves things forward. Seriously good movie.

Ragnarok delievers on the areas that the previous two failed to do. Between a good balance of action, comedy, and at times down right dark and great villain (thanks to Blanchett) Thor got the movie that a lot of Marvel fans wanted. Taika Waititi deserves a lot of credit for finally putting all the pieces together and making not just a great Thor movie, but a great MCU movie. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of Thor's lore, but even without being a fan, you can have a whole lot of fun with this

Taika Waititi's unique spin on Thor and the Marvel Cinematic Universe is an enjoyable mixed-bag of a comedy/superhero/sci-fi spectacle. Maybe the hardest I've laughed during one of these MCU patented brand fun films yet, however maybe the most I've rolled my eyes and sighed at the attempted jokes too. Despite the steady supply of swings-and-misses and some complimentary tonal issues, it's still easily the best Thor film to date. Although not the highest praise, its still more MCU popcorn fun.

Thor is released from his cheesy-golden-Viking realm ("Asgard is not a place, it's a people") to super fun results: Hemsworth oozes goofy charm ("No, I won. Easily") and serves as a solid lead for the fast-paced script. An eclectic supporting cast (the amiable Kiwi Korg and goofy Grandmaster are comedy gold-blum), fun cameos, a suitably intimidating villain, and just the right amount of trope subversions (see the opening scene) amidst the serious moments (see Loki's final catch) fill it out.

Thor: Ragnarok's strength is its irreverence for convention, while towing close enough to the line to deliver everything we expect from an MCU feature. The film starts with a boss fight traditionally suited for the later half, and never really takes a breath from there. The action is decent and the film colourful, but it's the synth-pop soundtrack and acerbic humour that make it enjoyable. The film understands what it is to be a franchise film and services the characters accordingly.

Going for more of an Asgaurdians of the Galaxy vibe, Ragnarok has a more lighthearted feel with plot progression that is frenetic and at times messy. Most of the second film is Lampshaded entirely, and I'll never forgive them for killing any hope of a Planet Hulk movie. Still, has enough self-aware humor to make it the best of the three of the worst of the five Avenger subtype movies.

At times, the silliness was too much, except Korg - he was a hilarious addition! But speaking of, they spent way too much time on the garbage planet - at least they wrapped it up neatly. Given all the old characters and the new, Loki is still for me the best one, but let's ditch the costume and have him in all black at all times, shall we? The third solo outing for Thor is, at times, a breath of fresh air for the misaligned thespian. Judged for its action and plot, Ragnarok is pretty bad. If you are interested in a comedy, however, the film stands right alongside Guardians as being a lot of fun. Obviously, Taika Waititi's goofball antics mesh well with much of the film's trajectory (the trash planet), where the absurdity of this hero is allowed to shine.

The comedy in this film is mostly low-brow slapstick and subverting "epic moments" with said slapstick. When the film is just making the same joke over and over again, it ceases to be funny and instead becomes aggravating especially when it diminishes a lot of the film's plot beats. Then again, it's not like there was much substance to this films plot beats or characterization to begin with and as a comedy space romp I can't help but feel underwhelmed by everything despite the presentation.

Had some really memorable moments with Led Zeppelin blaring. Guitars and drums beating out glorious riffs to perfectly match the feel of the action...and then there was generic scoring that was 100% forgettable. There were bits of the 80's synthy type stuff, especially on trash mountain, but that ended up forgotten as well. Needed to be 25% weirder, tweak the ratio of quips to set-up/payoff jokes, and liven up that score. Don't tell me you can't afford more killer tracks. We all saw Guardians.

Might as well be the finest Thor film, hilarious, very action-packed and with lots of different plot threads and new characters to make it even more interesting throughout. The cast is very good (Chris Hemsworth's comic timing matches the self-sarcasm but of course it's Jeff Goldblum who stands out) and "Immigrant Song" is a more than fitting go-to song when it comes to hero moments. Excellent fun. Hemsworth and Ruffalo transition their characters to a comic tone surprisingly naturally. And Jeff Goldblum's character, the Grandmaster, is easily the most fun villain that I've seen in a Marvel film. It does enough things really well and is so much fun that the bits where it doesn't quite go right don't matter to much. Not every joke lands, it's a bit light on story and we probably don't get enough of the superb Blanchett amongst other minor niggles. No serious moment in the first half could be felt with any gravity bc it was surrounded by uninterrupted quips and gags. It was suffocating. There's a lot of good stuff in this movie, character moments and thematic points and funny jokes and visually impressive setpieces. But I wish they were linked together by stronger arcs and better-explored themes. We're told that Asgard is a people, not a place, but we don't really learn much about who the people are. We see the stops along Thor's journey of self-discovery and growth, but we don't get a sense of what's going on inside his head. Good stuff, just wish it was deeper.

Now, this was a fun movie, but not a whole lot more; even considering that the whole thing ended up being a metaphor for imperialism. And in the first part, the tempo was off and the scenes just whizzed by, without time to dwell on anything. Sometimes you need to credit the story-writers for coming up with new characters and weaving them into an existing storyline almost effortlessly. Yes, I am referring to Thor and Loki's sister here. The movie provides wholesome entertainment and humour that is characteristically Marvel. It's visually appealing too with all the CGI. As always, having watched all the previous movies in the series helps but is not mandatory.

So to make the best Thor film, you have to make the best Hulk film? Sure, whatever works. The pacing and humor get off to a rough start, but improve majorly going into the second act and beyond. Blanchett's villain is pretty typical as far as Marvel villains go, but I'll let it go based on how awesome her headgear is.

One of the better super hero films. Dispense with all of the pointless super hero on super hero fights and get on with kicking bad guys around.

I appreciated the funnier and more colorful style of a comic book film which doesn't take itself too seriously. It's like a cross between big budget superhero film and 80's sci-fi quickie, and will no doubt enrage some of the MCU fans. It still needs to follow the basic formula (villain, backstories) and therefore feels a bit of a compromise. It could have been better with Waititi taking script duties as well. Still, one of the better films of it's kind and could actually benefit from a rewatch.

*Spoilers* Good fun. Best Thor movie (I didn't quite like the first and hated the second). Great twist'ish ending. Loved the subtle political touches (Asgard refugees, Hela saying "Sad!"). Marvel just keeps cranking them out.

Is this a funny movie? Yes. Is it a good movie? Not really but it is entertaining in a popcorn flick throw away film. I don't dislike movies like this at all in fact I enjoy them, sit down with friends and/or family have a beer, pizza and popcorn and enjoy. But, and I know I'm in the minority, I enjoy my superhero movie to be more serious, I like them to have depth and consequences. I prefer, Blade, the DCU & Logan to any of these light-hearted popcorn flicks.

The whole movie feels ghostwritten by Ricky Gervais. It's brilliant.

I don't know why people are calling this the funniest MCU film yet, because it isn't. It's got some good laugh out loud moments certainly, but I found Spider-Man funnier. The Hella stuff seemed more B plot, but I am not sure if it was supposed to be?

If every Marvel Movie is mingling awkwardly in a room together, Thor: Ragnarok is the matter-of-fact heckler. He's funny, sure, and he's right when he calls out Iron Man 2 for getting drunk and Guardians for being too damn smug, but by the end of the night no one really wants to talk to him. The result of his heckling is ultimately rather cold and alienating.

Maybe the best Marvel Movie? Extremely fun combination of Taika Waititi's writing and directing, exciting visuals and Ruffalo and Hemsworth's chemistry make this into a top tier marvel movie.

The best Thor movie, but mainly because the other two installments were not that good. This one is pure entertainment, too much colorful to my taste. Story has its high and low points, humor is unbalanced. Hela (as a promising antagonist played by a great actress) is just an another missed opportunity i think.. Still I like it overall but all that praises makes it a bit overrated..

Quite a few amusing moments that make pretty good use of the comedic capabilities of the cast.

Sometimes too deliberately humorous for its own good but often it pays off, as it does in many Marvel movies; I enjoy the quips - matching the comics - but do not want it to overimpact on the storyline. That said though, enjoyable to watch (especially if you do like the more humorous Marvel movies and, as usual, Jeff Goldblum does funny with the best of them) and full of spectacular special effects and action with a decent story too... and Blanchette as Hela is great as the villain

Everything I want from a Marvel movie. Good characters and character relationships. Stunning visuals, some heavy punching, a good villain and humor that feels natural and not terribly forced because you don't know what to do with some of the best characters the MCU has to offer (Looking at you Thor 2, you terrible piece of garbage).

It's like a superhero workplace comedy.. which is refreshing and sorta realistic. It allowed some of the characters to become likeable for once. Thor was always a bore but this made him and most of the cast relatable. Synth music was cool. Villainous Cate and Campy Jeff Goldblum were great.

I might be on the verge of having seen enough of these Marvel films. They are alle good entertainment, but I have trouble rating them any higher than "good", even this one, despite the fact that Hemsworth as Thor is one of my favorites. This was greatly entertaining however. *Good

While it suffers from Phase 3 Marvel cheap out on the climatic battle being in cgi, the rest of this is the most entertaining Marvel film since Iron Man first appeared on screens. As convoluted as Thor movies/comics can be, this manages to be hilarious and cool. The soundtrack elevates it to a permanent rotation status.
