Millie Dillmount, a fearless young lady fresh from Salina, Kansas, determined to experience Life, sets out to see the world in the rip-roaring Twenties. With high spirits and wearing one of those new high hemlines, she arrives in New York to test the "modern" ideas she had been reading about back in Kansas: "I've taken the girl out of Kansas. Now I have to take Kansas out of the girl!" (imdb)

Amazingly zany and offbeat musical with brilliant numbers and enchanting performances by Julie Andrews and Carol Channing. The late Beatrice Lilley is delicious as Mrs Meers. Fun from start to finish. Costumes are great, it doesn't take itself too seriously but manages to produce a spectacular end result.

A terrif! little Julie Andrews film that I stumbled across and really enjoy. It's not exactly overflowing with ideas of women's lib, but it's a silly, flighty little romance, and I can enjoy it for what it is. Plus, Julie Andrews is a wonderful comedienne. Makes me wish she'd gone more in that direction. Oh, and Carol Channing is also terrific. Raaaaaaaaasberriiiiiiiiiiies!

Lost about twenty percent with its line at the end 'I don't want to be a man's equal, I want to be a woman'. Great.

I hated nearly everything about this movie. I normally hate Carol Channing but the fact that Carol Channing is my favorite part goes to show just how much I disliked the movie as a whole. Would have been monumentally improved if half the characters were performed in drag.
