Angelina Jolie doesn't get enough to do, and there's very little firefighting. The climactic showdown between her and one of the assassins was frustratingly weak nonsense. Jon Bernthal makes the best impression, aided by his character's storyline and screentime. The kid was not a good enough actor, and the script made him act like not-a-kid. Bad script! But if you missed Angelina Jolie or like Jon Bernthal, I'd recommend it. I didn't totally hate it. It could have been so much better, though ...

Taylor Sheridan's no-nonsense style of violence and strife still works well, even if this Cliffhanger-throwback might have a fire problem. There is a good thriller at the heart of this story, but Jolie's baggage feels a bit extra. I just kept thinking "this is pretty good so far, do we really need a big fire, too?"

Those Who Wish Me Dead delves deep into the burning forest with sharp survival skills however, it forgets to leave behind a compelling script resulting in a thin narrative that can only go as far as a horse running from a ruthless predator.

Those Who Wish Me Dead is a good movie to spend time with, even not as impressive as Taylor Sheridan's past films. But frankly, after Without Remorse, this movie was also a bit disappointing. Because as I said, I know it's a good movie, but not by Taylor Sheridan standards. I'm looking forward to the director's next projects.

Jolie is a backwoods, foul-mouthing, fire brigade-volunteering survival expert is a trip. It just can't work, and it doesn't.

90's movies without the cheese are just so average. The only quip isn't even said by the main character. Those Who Wish Me Dead is the most average of movies that focuses on the wrong protagonist. Angelina Jolie, who one would assume is the star, is just a character that exists in the movie world. She's not given enough to work with and her character's backstory is used so cheaply. The movie is at least pretty to look at. The Montana wilderness is captured beautifully

As a very simple thriller, it's fine. But the kid's acting isn't strong enough to carry the pretty weak scenes between him and Jolie.

Those who wish me bored. Jon Berthnal went looking for Big Foot in the Montana woods and found something even rarer - a black woman. Seriously there's pandering and then there's pandering

I was excited to see a Koryta novel get handled by Sheridan and with a talented cast! Unfortunately its not good. There isn't much for the cast to work with at all, and it shows with clunky dialogue and seemingly disinterested actors delivering them. It feels hokey and cliched and silly at times it shouldn't. A shame.

It's great to see Angelina Jolie in a new thriller. But, the story and her character are not particularly well written. Jolie is, as always, marvelous. The story is very intense at times. I didn't appreciate the flashbacks. Worth watching if only for her.

Great to see Angelina back on screen and always good to see her in an action flick, but not this one. Hopefully better stuff coming her way

Perfectly acceptable cat-and-mouse thriller starring Angelina Jolie about a kid in possession of evidence against a villain gunning for his life. It's nothing incredibly new - we've all seen this story play out 1,000 times in the past. The forest fire backdrop allows for an interesting setting and obstacle course for our heroes, but still not enough to call this flick "original"

An okay movie with a good cast. Jolie and the kid don’t get nearly enough characterization to care about them, but most audiences won’t need much anyways. You won’t remember it for very long, but it might pass the time.

Taylor Sheridan's efforts here are admirable and to his credit, I was entertained enough throughout. However, even with a terrific cast, it just feels hollow. The characters just kind of exist, and the only one with any sort of development is Jolie's, but it's quite predictable in that sense as well. We never learn motivations of the antagonist, making them just there to feed the story and nothing more, and it all succumbs to being a bland one time watch. It's fine, but forgettable.

Movies like this usually live and die by the strength of the child performances. The child performance here is pretty good. Other parts of the movie are not so good, but--hey! it's Angie hanging out onscreen in a normal part as a regular protagonist! Like it's 2010 again!

I'll raise my rating mainly due to the unusual setting and the excellent performance of the young child actor, Finn Little.

It passes the time and movies were killers chase someone usually have enough going for that stuff not to grow boring. Jolie and Bernthal are just kind of... there, and apart from the very end, most scenes are not very effective. Jolie is kind of re-doing modern game Lara Croft here.

Good cast, especially Jon Bernthal. The villains aren't very well developed, but the story works anyway. Jolie probably wasn't the best casting choice for her role, but does a decent job. Good premise, strong production value.

A promising potboiler gradually led astray by Hollywood flash. Jolie's good, though her star presence also distracts from a story that's trying for gritty immediacy.

There was a lot of like about this pretty stock thriller movie. I really liked the badass female characters in the movie. Angelina Jolie did a good job in her role - she was troubled yet parental when those moments were called for. The two guys that they got to be the hitmen could not have been better. They were very cool but when the going got tough towards the end of the movie and they started acting worse, they definitely got a satisfying end. In a movie like this, that is all you want really

It's alright. The Jolie has a lot of screen time but her performance isn't impressive. There isn't a lot of anything going on in the movie though. Everything feels like a secondary or tertiary character: The fire, the chase, and the characters. Aidan Gillen and Medina Senghore are good however, and Jon Bernthal isn't bad. I didn't hate it and it didn't keep my interest, but I didn't shut it off.

Lightning and fire are awkwardly used devices (the leap from the tower, the avoidable? field, the pure air meters away from the blaze), but generally speaking the atmosphere—buoyed by excellent scenery and dramatic lighting—is strong and the story simple and effective. The understated efficiency of Gillen and Hoult's assassin duo is a compelling addition.

Pretty by the numbers neowestern conspiracy thriller but still manages to be interesting thanks to great cast and Sheridan's above average directing -- it's actually cool how it manages to ignore the actual plot (something that may compromise top-level authorities and makes even higher people assign two hideous violent agents on the path of a DA who gets killed and a forensic accountant and his only son) to develop a high-stakes emotional journey with pairings in the middle of a woods on fire.

This got all the makings of the fun summer blockbuster but the final effect is almost insufferable by the amount of cliches. Its like AI written movie. Worst Sheridan movie by far. Firestorm with Howie Long is better movie.

Definitely much better than critics are giving it credit for. The only real criticism is the story brings nothing new to the table but it has a fantastic cast who all play their respective roles well. It does play out in typical fashion but it's definitely got that edge factor thanks to the action elements present to up the ante. You could find things to nitpick about if you really want to nag but if you let those things slide you may actually find yourself rooting for the leads.

I can't tell if Sheridan was intentionally homaging 90s action-thrillers or if it just turned out that way. The action is tight, and there are just enough moments that subtly subvert expectations or character decisions that slightly deviate from the norm to give me flashes of a Zahler flick running on 25% power. The Aiden Gillen X Nick Hoult antagonist duo really worked for me, and I greatly appreciated how uncompromising and effective they were.

Great Scenery and predictable yet serviceable plot. But the direction and script was so bad they make the usually brilliant and award winning cast look like B movie amateurs. The dialogue is as if written by someone who learned to speak english from comic books. A shame really, the potential was there. Great actors, a visible budget, great sets, and entertaining plot premise. Its as if a high class gourmet restaurant with great ingredients and location was given to a hotdog vendor to run.

Passed the time on a plane, but glad I didnt pay money to see it. This was a typical load of unbelievable nonsense from start to finish but made a little more palatable by Hoult and Gillens underplayed and ruthless assassins. Of course, even they lost the plot later on, as did everyone else. This was a really superficial film that could have been so much better if the early promise wasn't just used as a throw away set up for the "thrills" later on. Angelina Jolie must have the skull of a rhino!

The trailers for this film reminded me of the 1998 forest fire thriller, Firestorm, so I went in with excitement. I love Firestorm. This film is not Firestorm. It is so much worse. You would think that the bad guys would start a forest fire and our hero has to fight her way out, but you would be wrong. It does happen, but it happens towards the end after a bunch of BS. This film is surprisingly lifeless.
