Acrobat Eddie Marsh is in the army now. His first act is to become friendly with Kathryn Jones, the colonel's pretty daughter. Their romance hits a few snags, including disapproval from her father. MGM's Thousands Cheer (1943) was enjoyable! Actually the first half is the story and the second half is the big variety show with MGM bringing their star stable for a little fun. The show aspect wasn't that good, but the romance story involving Gene Kelly & Kathryn Grayson was more than charming and made for a real good time. Unfortunately the show portion distracted the story so much that I almost forgot that it was the same movie, but skip that 50 minutes and you have a pleaser.
