Three Faces West (1940) starts off gloomy with mystery in the air before it becomes a "New Deal" type of thing about starting anew while spitting on the 3rd Reich and punching out the negativity! Glad they didn't make it obnoxiously positive as there was always a uncertainty in the air, even with John Wayne being the typical American go-getter. Sigrid Gurie looks just like Greta Garbo with a strong role. But the story wouldn't have been as good had it not been for Charles Coburn being the glue.
