Half the movie Seven Samurai is not only in number of samurai but also in runtime and finally in impact. The stand they take is pretty fantastic though and I'm for any movie trying to do what Seven Samurai does in half the time.

One could describe this a poor man's *Seven Samurai*--emphasis on "poor." It's not that the film is terrible, but it isn't exceptional, either. (I'm not sure it warrants the "criterion" treatment.) It's decent, but perhaps part of its value may be to show how great *Seven Samurai* is.

The whorehouse fight scene was amazing. A solid if atypical Chambara film filled with strange camera angles, nihilistic characters, fight and blood. The cast was great but not amazing as was the film as a whole.

Perfectly plotted and paced, with a unique, underhanded perversion of the bushido code that moves the plot in unexpected terms. I had a hard time stomaching some serious physical abuse against a woman protagonist here, but otherwise found it immensely enjoyable.

There's some fun moments here, but Three Outlaw Samurai is not particularly engaging and the characters aren't very interesting either. Predictable too: of course these three samurai will end up working together. It's called Three Outlaw Samurai. Score is not a grade.

I really loved the opening shot and title card presentation, but from there on in I had a lot of trouble investing myself into this well made film. Cake is nice but I generally appreciate some kind of icing on it.

Lean, sometimes vicious and thoroughly gripping samurai thriller. Kicks into gear within seconds and never lets up, yet allows room for neatly drawn characters and memorable performances all round. Smashing stuff which doesn't outstay its welcome.

A fun chanbara with a high body count that is, like Gosha's other samurai flicks, decidedly anti-authoritarian.

Aslında elinde epik film olmak için gerekli olmasına rağmen, hikayesini yaymamasını sevdim. Kısa, direkt, eğlenceli bir samuray filmi, hatta bir tür sınıf mücadelesi hikayesi. DÜNYANIN BÜTÜN SAMURAYLARI BİRLEŞİN!

A ruling warlord is indifferent to the suffering of the poor peasants. When they begin to starve they take his daughter hostage to force negotiations. The warlord makes a deal, but then goes back on his word. An honorable samurai subjects himself to punishment to help the poor people which nearly costs him his life. Two other samurai are also wronged by the deceitful warlord, forging a bond between them. The three band together to defeat the injustice.

Another macho fantasy of a man's world of yore, powdered with a few whiny, needy and passive women, and sharing very many of the cliches common to chanbara and western flicks. Still, it is a human and very dark film, relatively low on glorification, simplification and exaggeration, and it's really well-made. I appreciated the restrained battles, and the great cinematography, editing and pace.

Grim and bleak. Cool hack n slash action. Loved the 3 main characters. A bit of a twist on typical samurai fare makes it more memorable.
