It's Terry Gilliam making a movie knowing full well that most of the audience will hate it. If you do, totally understandable. If you don't, you might find it to be one of his best

If you've ever seen Big Fish, shoot up lots of heroine and this will be the movie you see. It's screwed up to say the least. But as far as film making goes, pretty good.

Since this is viewed through the lens of a child, it's quite easy to feel subtly uncomfortable and yet also strangely distant. The abuse and the dead bodies and the sprinkling of paedophilia that's discovered on the trail is almost sidetracked by the fantasy narrative woven by our protagonist's imagination. Not uncommon for Gilliam, this feels one step short of nailing what it wants to be. I enjoyed the final act, but it's a slow, awkward, uncertain plod to get there and it just doesn't click.

Unwatchable. Disgusting

"Kill me..." that was my felling at the end of the movie. It%uFFFDs soo bad that i cant find the words to say it. It%uFFFDs simply soo bad... too bad. The only good thing that i can say about it is "the direction is interesting" and i dont mean very good by that...

I honestly felt like I'd been transported back through time to when I was a little girl because of this movie, that's how real Gilliam makes the trips he takes you on, This movie left me flabbergasted. Too bad I hated the ending (probably because it had to end)

Takes some long digestion before realizing it's a really good movie, can't think of anyone but Gilliam to look at pedophilia from the other way. Jodelle Ferland definitely holds the whole movie on her slender shoulders.

Really, I have no idea why Gilliam made this movie. But I have some ideas why no one wanted to show it in theaters...

There's really lovely characters in the film, but boring scenario and direction.

I actively disliked this film - probably because I have an aversion to plotlines which follow the following formula: naive children some kind of horrible danger = a long period of tension followed by something horrible, inevitably, happening. Perhaps I'm being too harsh on it.
