At Fort Polk, Louisiana, thousands of young men prepare for Vietnam. The specter of combat hangs over the men of A-Company, Second Platoon, as they enter the final stage of infantry training. They will be sent to the war. But each man deals with this prospect in his own way. One man's defiance, however, galvanizes every member of the platoon. (20th Century Fox)

The film that launched Colin Farrell's ego, but not too bad despite that.

Not a war film, not at all. Just a bunch of sitting around, bad dialogue, and things thrown in your face for shock value.

It focuses on going to 'Nam, but you never see them in actual combat. It's more a drama set in war times. It's not real original or anything but it asks some good questions and it's gritty and very well made. Great movie. Schumacher can actually make good films, who knew!

Suprisingly good for a Schumacher/Farrell collaboration.

Realy rough, sometimes you can`t belive what people can do to each other, and the war in this film is so realistic.

The first glimpse of promise for Mr. Farrell. Unfortunately, he hasn't really acted since.

A "war" movie but with no actual war, just a drama about training. But it's a well done drama. Covers some important issues regarding the military and training in an intelligent way. Farrell does a great job supported by a good cast.

Nice of Mr. Schumacher to try to do a real film for a change, but a small budget and a 16mm camera will not magically transform you into an artist. Nice try, but I hope nobody involved here quit their day job

Joel Schumcher directed this? Wtf? A genuinely original war movie, which is a rare thing worth celebrating.

There's not a whole lot too this movie and it's easily overshadowed by those other Vietnam movies that have things happen to characters.

A war movie, where the characters don't set foot in a war, and no one dies--never thought something like that would be good. Colin Ferrell does a good job, and I really don't understand why Clifton Collins Jr. isn't bigger than he is.

The documentary style used by Schumacher gives the movie a sense of realism but the dialogue detracts from it by seeming staged. 'Tigerland' tries so hard to force a message on the audience that the characters feel one dimensional. A classic example of a movie being so plot focused that it too often fogets to humanise the characters. There are some decent scenes during the training though and Farrell's performance is worth watching.

We see a movie reminiscent of ‘anti-war' such as Paths of Glory, Full Metal Jacket and Platoon. Director Schumacher's work of the minds of the soldiers is not as deep as Kubrick and Stone. The psychological side of the movie may be a little weak but it is absolutely impressive. I'm not a Colin Farrell fan but it might be the best performance of his career. Though Shea Whighan, real star of the movie, maybe he's the metaphor of countries that shout "we want war!!" in this movie?
