film was made funnier by thinking the whole time about roger ebert trying to sit through it.

I heard lots of, "doesn't translate well to a full length format" yet it seems to me that putting in the more typical full-length story elements and less bizarro-fucked-up=insanity then you would have Mall Cop 2: Mall Copz. This was exactly what it needed to be.

So bad it's, well, .... bad. And I'm talking "contemplating suicide" bad. I get their whole shtick. I mean we were all stoners in high school once, but this just tested my patience. I just found it overly annoying. I've never been a fan of Tim and Eric although I must say I have seen clips from their show that made me chuckle, but this movie.... I never even laughed at the ridiculousness. Not a peep. Not even a "why am I watching this?" Human Centipede laugh.

Nah. I mean, there were some pretty funny bits, but it was just kind of super boring and the puerile/gross-out stuff was absolutely horrible

If you're not familiar with Tim & Eric then this is probably a great introduction, but if you are then you've probably seen most of this done before. If you're like me and are semi-obsessed then the feeling will just be accentuated. UPDATE: I've since watched this again and I liked it a lot more the second time.

a not entirely successful attempt to adapt their idiosyncratic brand of comic madness to the ~big screen~. results are mixed, but hey, it's still tim and eric. how cool is that?

Their first movie is pretty much the same as the show. Except not so much with the funny. I had a few little chuckles, but it honestly wasn't that funny overall. It had more of a plot than the show ever did, but it still wasn't substantial. I wish John C. Reilly had just been his classic Dr. Steve Brule character instead of the new one. I thought Will Ferrell was funny though. You need to have a special type of humour to really appreciate these guys, and they're a bit hit and miss for me.

Doesn't translate the best and weirdest humour of the show to the big screen entirely. At most times, it feels like an usual Will Ferrell sort of movie (at least it's a funny Will Ferrell sort of movie). Some fans will be disappointed, some fans won't be. Some non-fans will enjoy it, some non-fans will hate it.

One of the worst movies I have ever seen. A depressing experience, because two guys had to come up with this and many more had to play a part in it. I feel bad for them because they will have to live with being in this movie for the rest of their lives. Also, recreating a public access style literally is not funny or interesting or creative at all.

Insanely awkward, even more so than the show. Does not translate well to full length format. Still there are moments that will get you laughing, unfortunately, they are few and far between.

I am a huge fan of the show, I regularly watch episodes with my friends. Usually I don't find any issue with some of the more...misanthropic humor on the show. Here it tended to bother me, and T&E often come across as a bunch of assholes in this movie. Probably intentional, but it still rubbed me the wrong way. Also, Galifianakis' character felt like a wasted opportunity. Certain gags had me laughing, but not many.

Considering their TV show, I'm surprised how many easy, tired jokes TIm and Eric rely on throughout this movie.

I usually love Time & Eric's zany sense of humor but this movie was just bad. I loved all the big stars that they got to be in this movie such as John C. Reilly (although I wish he would have been his character Steve Brule instead of Taquito), Will Farrell, Jeff Goldblum and Ray Wise. The idea that they blew away 1 billion dollars on a movie and have to pay it back fixing a mall is just so out there that it really wasn't very funny. They have done much better on their show than in this film.

Nice to know that a runtime of 93 minutes only exponentially multiplies my irritation at the fact these guys try too hard for gags that aren't slightly funny.

I've been seeing a string of bad comedies lately. This is by far the best one I've seen in months. Like most comedies, the first third is the strongest, but I'd still recommend it with very few reservations.

I enjoy Tim & Eric's style of comedy - surreal, hyperpaced and a little bit off-putting, and the movie is more of the same, with a somewhat coherent plot too. It drags a little towards the end but what I like here is that they push the normal length of their gags out - the repetition becomes a little ridiculous and the movie is funnier because of it. The lack of censorship isn't the best though - although I thought SHRIM was hilarious the entire project could have done with a little restraint.

I'm not gonna sit here and claim that I didn't laugh. I did, several times. I love comedies that think outside the box, since so few do. But it does run short on energy by the end.

I gave this a rewatch and it was much better the second time around. I would not recommend it to everybody but, if nothing else, it's definitely unique, and I can see myself coming back to it again. Make sure you have a reasonably high tolerance for the gross and the sophomoric. Booze might help.

My sister was having to look away and I hadn't laughed so much in awhile. So busy laughing or being shocked that when there are slow moments it becomes quite boring in comparison and you wonder what the fuck you've been watching. I have not watched much Tim & Eric, so it was all pretty new to me, but I imagine it all works better in smaller segments. It is hard to take this seriously as a movie, but then, why should a comedy be taken seriously anyway? It was fun.

This movie is funny and in the end that's all that should matter but something doesn't 100% translate. This has the antihumor the duo are known for but the dadaist horror of it all is kind of toned down. In trying to tell a story (albeit it ironically) they kind of lose the nightmarish randomness that makes them so special.

Antics that in Awesome Show might have been weird yet appealing instead become downright horrifying and insufferable when thrust into vivid cinematic "reality". 500 characters is too short for this, but I'd make the case that it deliberately evokes the strangeness of other critically divisive projects like Brain Candy and Run Ronnie Run whose creators' sketch-comedy sensibilities arguably translated poorly to film. It's an insulting waste of time because it's *about* insulting wastes of time.

If you're not a fan of Tim and Eric, then this is not the movie for you. If you are a fan of Tim and Eric, it also might not be the movie for you. There aren't many callbacks to the show outside of the characters Heidecker and Wareheim always seem to play, so if you were looking for Dr. Steve Brule, or any Cinco products, you'll have to stick to the Adult Swim shows. Still, if you're a fan of their brand of comedy, give it a look.

I expected to hate this, but I can't deny that there are moments here which work, even if only on a purely "what the fuck" level. Tim & Eric's enthusiasm and camraderie shine through the lamer stretches, and there's worthy support from John C. Reilly (giving new meaning to the word "pathetic"), Will Ferrell (his faux-mercial is hilarious), Zach Galifianakis (who transforms into...pure energy?), and Robert Loggia (having fun with a rather thankless role). Meet it halfway, and you might enjoy it.

Tom Goes to the Mayer is great. Awesome Show is hit or miss. The Chrimbus special is really good. This, however, is really bad. It is the absolute worst (best?) of Tim and Eric for an hour and a half. If that's what you're after, then this is for you. If not, avoid.

I get what they're trying to do, I just think they were going about it completely wrong and sucking every ounce of funny out of it as a result. Maybe I've just seen too many clips of real public access travesties to find the artificial version funny anymore. You have to work really hard to make intentional "so bad its good" work, and they just didn't try hard enough. The whole thing was a real letdown, because they do many of the little things right, but the film in a macro sense was unfunny.

It's definitely not for everyone, nor is it a good introduction for people who are new to Tim and Eric's style of humor. They really aren't meant to do full-length films and this movie makes that clear when compared to the television show. That being said, I found myself laughing at a few of the smaller jokes of this film and even watched it more than once.

Being a devoted fan of Tim and Eric, you can imagine - or maybe you can't - my surprise to see just how unfunny their first go on the big screen truly is. The laughs are there, but they come in large gaps, in what I can only describe as a curiously distant adaptation. Well, the same jokes from the show are carried over to the movie, but something new or different and it just wouldn't feel like Tim and Eric.
