They almost had something with the question of "Is it better to know and follow one path that will guarantee your happiness, or to just ride the ride and see where it takes you?" But the film never really explored that fully. Instead, it was just a dull romcom with a sort-of-interesting premise.

I'm going to be harsh: This film was the quality of sand. It was rough and coarsely edited. Rather bland and dull to look at. And if you dug deep enough, you just found more sand and the occasional mud. With a storyline that at least has a little promise, the movie is ruined by the inability for the actors to convey actual emotions or for any of the characters to seem of any relative interest. Also the ending was stupid. It took everything the film was going for and shot it behind the shed.

The ending completely foiled everything this movie tried to build. Really mixed messages.

Enjoyable despite some indie mistakes, up until the horrible ending ruins it and flies in the face of everything that came before. That might say something about my opinions on fate and love, but I just really don't like to see a film just throw away all previous character development and momentum of what is was working towards just to make a stupid point. Disappointing.

Lightweight, yes, and fairly enjoyable. Acceptance of the premise requires a substantial leap of faith, but if you go with it, there's some engaging dialogue and decent acting to get you through to the profoundly irritating cop-out of an ending. This is, unfortunately, one of those indie movies where the dialogue isn't recorded particularly clearly. Since some of the actors are a bit lacking in craft, it's sometimes a problem.

I actually enjoyed TiMER, despite it’s many flaws. Most of these flaws can be attributed to Schaeffer's inexperience, with scenes not being as tight nor dialogue being as snappy as they should have been. There are a lot of RomCom clichés used, some of which do work, giving the film it’s cutesy vibe. The ending may be a little divisive, but I appreciated the movie sticking to its premise rather than presenting an absolute moral platitude.

Crap. A good idea gone to mush due to its gooey over-sentimental bull plot. Avoid.

A relatively light and fun romantic comedy with some intriguing fantasy elements. As an indie by a first time director it's relatively solid. I had to dock it some points for the ending though. The entire third act is incredibly predictable and honestly feels like a cop out. I don't mind that they illustrate different people wanting different things relationship wise but they could have shown the same thing without it being so damn obvious what was about to happen.

Top badass moment? I don't really understand the relationship some sisters have with one another; why would I, I'm a bloke and I don't have a sister? But the one in this film between two step-sisters is believable, nuanced and ultimately sacrificing and loving. I've no idea if it's in anyway realistic, but that seems cool enough to be badass to me. No cats, decapitations or chainsaws.

I didnt like this one. As a concept it could be interesting but this wasn't. The only redeeming feature is (SPOILER) that the timer is right in the end. The romance along the way was stupid, and lacking in chemistry. The leading man, was not very good at all. There was the occasional laugh, but this movie is boring and unengaging. The only other part that I liked was the matching of the brother and the girl.

Disappointing - a fantasy idea packaged as though it were science fiction, but the ideas they develop from the premise are kind of dull, dumb and boring.

It wasn't bad, but wasn't very good. The concept of this timer was an interesting one. I felt like the ending of the movie was a little bit of a cop-out.

It doubt that I'll be thinking about this movie a year or two from now, but it's fun, isn't heavy handed, doesn't get over ambitious and, above all, is entertaining.

It's always cute when a movie comes up with an impossible hypothetical situation, criticizes the stance that allows for it, then goes with it. It's not always good.
