I didn't see this until 2008, well after the raspberries died down, and I'm glad. It has some unique ideas, and typically good Bluth animation. I'm a sucker for the Cowboy Bebop-type setting, too. Unfortunately, the mix of CGI and traditional cel animation is awkward and some of the characters are very annoying.

Considering the talent involved, this should have been much better. Instead, we have a story stuffed with clichés, flat characters, and an awkward 2D/3D animation mix. There are some striking visuals and funny lines here and there, but they aren't enough to save everything else. A forgettable missed opportunity.

The Don Bluth hand-drawn animation mixed with 3D CGI is different, but certainly not bad. The concept is brilliant, and so are some of the visuals. It owes a lot to A New Hope and The Wrath of Khan (including, perhaps, its over-reliance on archetypes and cliches), and while it's not nearly as great as either of its influences, it's definitely good.

Forgetable and predictable postapocalyptic flick.

Beautiful visual design, lovely animation, and a fairly plausible plot allow the star-packed cast to have what sounds like a lot of fun with their characters. It's a shame that the mistake of marketing this film as a kiddie cartoon sank its makers financially.

I didn't expect this movie to be as bad as it was. The whole thing is full of plot holes and incredibly formulaic. The characters are all cardboard cutouts, while the story hurries along at breakneck pace. This is pointless.

Underrated sci-fi action animated feature.

Some fitfully impressive animation is the main star here (though there’s nothing here that outclasses anything in Bluth’s better films), but the jumbled and convoluted sci-fi story is difficult to become invested in. Made more difficult by Damon and Barrymore who are unusually stripped of all of their charisma – in fact, the entire cast sound bored and disconnected, with the exception of Lane who manages to make his sleazy letch at least marginally amusing.

This cult sci-fi film is often blamed for killing off Fox Animation Studios because of a poor advertising campaign for it. Or it could just be that it is rubbish. The 2D and 3D don't mesh and look awkward together, the soundtrack features rubbish pop-rock that doesn't suit the movie at all and the script, story and characters are all over the place.

It's got some great animation and it's actually a decent movie. It bombed for profit as it was marketed towards teenage boys, and honestly what teenage boys would admit to wanting to see an animated movie?

A boring story told with a horrid incongruous mishmash of glossy CGI and cheap cel animation.

Great animation, but it's over the heads of its target audience.

The pictures are nice. The plot, script and acting are not.

I felt bad not liking this one better, since it looks like the animators put a lot of work into it; but, I just wasn't that into it, for some reason.

It's pretty cliche, but a pretty good movie for Don Bluth.
