While there are some genuinely entertaining bits, the film unfortunately spends a lot of its time focusing on Brad...who is about as interesting as a bag of day-old Wonder Bread named Brad. If living with the human equivalent of a pet rock is what it takes to be Takei, then I'm perfectly fine with Takei being Takei and me being the guy who oogles old pics of Lieutenant Uhura in his den.

A lot of fun for the most part. Parts were a bit depressing and upsetting, perhaps relevant to current issues with the treatment of blacks. The internment of the Japanese. It's a valuable story, although I'm not sure it quite fits within this documentary. And then there is the part that feels like an advertisement for Takei's musical, Allegiance. An effective advertisement; I want to see the musical. And I want a DVD of this movie.

Mein Gott, Takei is almost 80?! Fun and heartwarming--well, outside of the tales of the Japanese-American internment camp--and solidifies Takei as a heckuva cool cat and a great role model.

Not much of a doc, but Takei is so sweet it's still enjoyable.
