Tom Brown's Schooldays

Seen the films from 1916 and 1940 that have adapted this source material to the screen previously. Always a pleasant feel without that special magic in the story to lift it higher. Probable less sentimental than the '40 adaptation, so the young actors come across more natural, and therefore the exchanges where better, even if they didn't have the same strong cast as the American one. Felt Robert Newton was slightly underused to take advantage of his star presence. But still a fine movie.
