"Tough Enough" is a fight-centric movie. It derives its emotional core from the dynamics between a wife, a fellow boxer he just met, and a promoter who supports our hero until an inexplicable shift to another fighter at the last second. The story execution is lacking in polish. This film might offer entertainment for those who recall the Tough Man frenzy of the '80s. However, it might be wise to explore different cinematic options for others.

A peculiar little boxing movie, notable for dealing with the amateur circuit rather than pro boxing. Now, Richard Fleischer was a great director, but kinda lost it by the 1980s. There's not a lot of thought put into this; Most of the dramatic elements end up going nowhere, I'm pretty sure "Toughman" contests have separate weight classes in reality, and the film's ending is ludicrously manufactured. Still, look at the cast - it's a fun group, and there's even a Wilford Brimley cameo. Passable.
