Toy Soldiers

Obviously this was pitched as Die Hard in a boarding school--with parts of Ferris Bueller's Day Off & Red Dawn thrown in. And those are the least awkward aspects. There's nothing entertaining about campus shootings, kids held hostage, and teenagers murdered by terrorists. Yet the script does all of the above with a misguided sense of fun. Even worse, the picture is a mess as it's too long, the heroes forget important skills, and the laughable villains come from a Simpson's McBain clip. Avoid.

Whenever I see this movie is on, I watch it. I can't pinpoint anything that makes it stand out as spectacular, but it's just a great, captivating little action story with good characters.

Good fun but not much else. I'm not sorry I watched it but that's all the praise I can give.

Better than I expected. Even with all the cliched one note characters it still manages to get some excitement and tension out of the situation.

It's worth it just to see Wil Wheaton get pumped full of lead.

Not good, but a bit of a guilty pleasure. Astin, Wheaton and even Coogan seem earnest and perform well.

Was really fun seeing this again. Sean Astin, Louis Gossett Jr and the rest of the cast do a great job. Lots of action, some comedy, drama and even emotional scenes.

Fuck yeah! Wil Wheaton with an earring! Also quite entertaining. A very rainy weekend movie.

Like a more serious sister-piece to "Home Alone". Enjoyable and suspenseful action flick.
