hello, I think Adam Leon is a skilled and underrated modern filmmaker who is able to use rudimentary methods and techniques and tell effective, emotional stories. so if you're using your Netflix account to watch lame ass content like Bright and not this, then you fuckin lame dawg.

Cute, unannoying indie film with catchy chemistry between the two leads. GVP cute as hell

This is a very prototypical independent film. Not flashy and it probably won't get much attention, but it is good.

GIMME THE LOOT was lent specificity by its authentic location shooting and the intuitive, personable lead performances (by PoC), but that only partially elevated a rather cute, inconsequential mumblecore screenplay. this time the same disguise wears thin, perhaps because the whiter milieu/romance is a lot more familiar. there's a point when it asks you to doubt the integrity of one of the protagonists and it doesn't work because you know the movie's too nice to really trip you up that way.

In his second feature film, Adam Leon builds off the strong style he showed with Gimme the Loot and creates a charming, interesting, and genuine portrait of two broken souls thrown together by luck and necessity. The film feels immediate and raw, as if these characters are sharing their interactions lost in the landscape of millions of other similar interactions and when it works, it really works. The kinetic energy of the characters drives the plot, not vice versa, which is really refreshing.

A really interesting and always moving narrative takes two people who are in need of something new and gives them each other as that new potential. It stayed mysterious and genuinely engaging through out. Well acted by Grace Van Patten and Callum Turner. Such awkward and building chemistry. A very well written film.
