Transformers One

The very good origin story is much better than the animation.

Surprisingly well-written, taking more cues from Arcane than the long line of horribly bloated live-action Tranformers films it follows.

Not a knock-off GotG/TMNT like the first trailer implied. Though it does employ humour (some of which works, genuinely), there's a lot more heart and emotional depth than I was expecting. Sure, while the animation isn't top-tier, it's sufficient. But the strength is in the writing. It's a compelling origin story that's full of interesting lore even though the plot is a little predictable. Still, plenty of cool scenes, excitement. Prime gets to be awesome. The first trailer failed this hard.

It might follow a familiar path, but it's more than fun enough for that not to matter.

If you grew up with Transformers like me, you will fall in love with Transformers One. This animated film offers an epic journey into the Transformers mythology and the beginning of everything. It's fun, dark and full of excitement. Thanks to the entire writing team, especially director Josh Cooley. They gave us a movie we've been waiting for decades. We've FINALLY got the best Transformers movie ever made.

Man it’s about freakin’ time we got this movie. Gone are all of the annoying human side-characters and the obnoxious look and feel that plagued this franchise for so long. This is how a Transformers movie should look and feel. A tragic loss of friendship, actually compelling Transformers, mostly solid voice work, really good action and pacing, and an entertaining, emotional climax. Cybertron has never looked better. Cannot recommend it enough to those who grew up on the shows and comics.

Only really gonna enjoy the first like half if you already liked Transformers. Animation was kind of ugly but not unbearable. Wish it was a little more fleshed out but I mean its a kids movie so I get it. Was actually funny sometimes. Biggest issues really are just from it having to be a kids movie, would be a lot better if it was PG-13.
