A relentlessly silly thriller that marked the beginning of its helmer's 'blandification' and shift toward a quasi-anonymous style. The kills are repetitive, and the talking severed heads are a sick joke that are ridiculous in this more 'realistic' context, which doesn't suit Argento at all and merely highlights his obvious shortcomings. Rydell and Asia are bad as the two young leads, and the climax is a total non-event

Enjoyable for one watch, but don't expect it to make a lot of sense.

The only good thing in this one is "Ruby Rain" sung by Laura Evan.

Dario directs daughter Asia for the first time, and she raises his game. Asia is great as a petrified teenager and the story unfolds better than you would expect from the typical unknown-murderer-rampage giallo formula. In this one the killer and his garrotting machine are ruthless and creepy. The final third is a rollercoaster of good and bad bits, but an effective back story is just one of several neat touches by a horror veteran returning to form.

Trauma estreava há 30 anos na Itália. Obviamente não é Argento no seu pico e mesmo em termos de anos 90 não se compara ao excelente Síndrome de Stendhal, mas ainda é um giallo acima da média. Gosto de como usa a Piper Laurie, gosto de como aparece o Brad Dourif que nem sabia que estava no filme. Box Versátil Giallo Volume 9.

The beginning of the end for Argento. A complete mess, but still lots of bizarro fun if you try not to compare it to his earlier masterpieces. Talking decapitated heads, awkward erotic shots of his own daughter and the always lovely and batshit crazy Piper Laurie doing what she does best.
