Trees of Syntax, Leaves of Axis
Using the images of maple trees in the park as its main visual motif, Trees of Syntax, Leaves of Axis is a film in which the formations of the trees and their subtle interrelation with the space around them act as an agent to transform viewer's sensorial perception of the space portrayed. Without having any knowledge of the filmmaker's intentions, this does seem like an exploration of cinema-as-life, or cinema-as-consciousness, where this means a composition of light and darkness, of sound and image, of the directness of "recording" and the mediation of "montage", of figure and abstraction, of the "phenomenon" we call nature and the "actuality" of artifice, of materiality and hyper-materiality, and of rhythm and becoming. It did seem to have something and to develop some power.

like visual nails on a chalkboard screeching out from the depths of closed eye visuals on the way down from a particularly rough acid trip.
