From a TV series that barely lasted three seasons in the 1960s, "Star Trek" has grown into a multibillion-dollar industry involving several spin-off series, numerous movies, and countless merchandise items. I'll get this out, I love Star Trek but I wouldn't consider myself a trekkie or trekker, just a fan. I can't deny it would be pretty awesome to go to a Star Trek dentist though. As a documentary it's not Earth-shattering and feels like a made-for-TV doc but it's still an entertaining watch. Yes some of the people are socially awkward and take Star Trek to extremes but, for the most part, the documentary makes a good case for people having fun in relation to a TV show they love.

While some people come off a bit sad, most of them are just enjoying a hobby and it is pretty interesting to to see how this little world worked at its peak.

Wandering, scattered documentary oscillates between an affectionate portrait of folks indulging a passion, and the viewer feeling trapped and cornered by those very same folks as they bore you with their obsession. Could have benefited from some tightening; a lack of probing questioning leaves the impression that it may well be a cheap extended promo for the STAR TREK brand than anything else. Likely to be more interesting if TREK or the fandom is already of interest.

A rather warm look at Star Trek fans without patronising or making fun of them. Obviously some of the stars are a bit out there but I do like the Star Trek cast & crew's genuine appreciation (and a fair few of their stories are really nice). It doesn't overstay it's welcome nor does it try and make any bold statements: it just shows you a group of fans and their love of Star Trek. Likely better than most of the TV show too.

As an unashamed Trekkie (how did you guess) this is the film equivalent of videoing a child while you tell them Father Christmas doesn't exist. Well made but analysing your childhood favourite and mental escape zone made me a partial viewer

Pretty solidly interesting & entertaining, & recomended. The talking head format should lend itself well to video, and i could have had it shorter and been left wanting more. The coolest thing is the warm message, although i question if this picture will change anyone's idea of what trek fans are like.
