Tren de Sombras

A fascinating and spell-binding film about transcience and also about cinema; our perception of cinema, it's limitations with it's inability to be truly objective and how film is transient decaying over time, as well as the possibilities inherent in cinema both as document (however imperfect) and as something open to interpretation (sometimes due to the very lack of objectivity which can limit it). It's stunningly beautiful and oddly moving.

Clearly created by someone utterly saturated in film, this extraordinary, mesmerising meta-cinematic event weaves in and out of place and time seamlessly, like a dream. The title invokes the Lumiere film and the atmosphere replicates Gorky's experience of early cinema.
