One of my favorite love triangle movies to date! The humor absolutely transcends time, as well as the drama -- there wasn't a moment during this silent where I felt bored. Greatly recommend as a starting point for those curious about silent (or Russian) film history.

Love triangle romantic comedy that works very well, though it's missing the spark that a sound film could provide to the characters through dialogue. It does have the kind of visuals you expect from a soviet silent, so that's a plus.

A breath of fresh air for those who want to get past the Eisenstein barrier to Soviet silents. Beautiful montage used to develop characters and setting, and performances as comfortable as the worn in sofa. This is what the classic love triangle would look like if real life met those silly characters. Unfortunate consequences toacting on impulse, with repercussions once the ending credits roll that none of the major players are capable of understanding. Top notch.

Hardly shows its age.

solid, fun, tactful. forward-thinking in a lot of ways... great performances but a lot of repetitive scenes and its drama is barely explicated
