There are no real surprises here as far as creature feature films go. The same character tropes exist here just like they exist in every other film like this and I felt like the only thing unique about it were the monster and setting. It's not quite enough to set it apart from other movies in its genre, but it's still an okay bit of fun to pass the time with. A far more superior movie on trolls is definitely Trollhunter (2010), a found footage film that's more exciting and creepy.

I like the part with the big troll. It's not actually that good though, would've been better if they sided with the troll.

I can see this coming from asylum, riding the coattails of big releases like gødzilla, køng or cløverfield. But from nørway and nøw? Don't get me wrong, it's a big win for everyone that roar uthaug doesn't get hollywood productions anymore, but why does he still make movies at all?! And who for? Whoever watched this (cast and crew included) and thought "yeeeaah, that's it!"? I wanna meet that person and spit in the barrel of motor oil he seems to be drinking from regularly.

The movie thinks it can get away with the most stupid, derivative "You just gotta believe"-script just because it is set in Norway and has a new form of monster. I'm not sure, but I think probably over 50 % of the dialog is just corny, trite phrases from American action blockbusters directly translated to Norwegian. Perhaps being so lazy was supposed to be funny but the humor landed about as well as the thuds of the titular character. Trolljegeren is a trillion times better than this.

I commend how committed it was to aping other movies; tho I'm not sure with what purpose because, whatever it was, it didn't succeed.
