This movies isn't awesome. It's Norsesome! Initially I couldn't stop comparing it to 'Cloverfield', but thankfully it thoroughly excels the mediocracy of the latter. If you're christian and contemplating a trip to the norwegian mountainside this summer, maybe think again. Or bring a proper flashlight.

Never been a fan of the shakycam Blair Witch/Cloverfield style but Trolljegeren does it with genuine humour and some clever satire. The way it turns everyday occurrences and existing landscape features into signs of troll infestation is quite amusing. The trolls themselves are fantastic creations and the gorgeous shots of Norway's countryside had me pining for the fjords. One of the best low-budget films I've seen this year.

It's like a Norwegian Blair Witch Project, really. There are some pretty locales, the mountains and forests are terrific, but the pacing is off, the trolls don't look that menacing, and the documentary style is not wholly consistent in its effectiveness. It's worth a watch because it's about fucking troll hunting in the gorgeous Norwegian wilderness, but it's not that fun, scary, or artistic.

OMG trolls really do exist ... and it's all being covered up with drunk bears from Croatia... Great mockumentary, lots of fun.

A satirical, well-conceived and charmingly off-beat Norwegian Cloverfield, and even though I'll never be a great fan of the "found footage" approach, this was so much fun it didn't bother me too much.

Troll Hunter succeeds where Dog the Bounty Hunter failed. Okay, it's not that perfect, but it's very entertaining.

I love the premise and every aspect of the visual design. Localized, folk-tale horror is a great idea and Troll Hunter's trolls have an authentic feel to them. The good acting of the guy who plays the hunter also helps. However, there are too many plot holes, the trolls' anti-Christian thing is unconvincing, and the first-person filming style was definitely a mistake. It is limiting, its novelty wore off years ago and the shakiness in action scenes has gotten really annoying by 2010.

Best use of the found footage concept so far. Nice how it completely plays it straight, and I loved the conspiracy angle. All the trolls are pretty goddamn cool. More films should feature trolls. Trolls!

Incredibly hilarious! The movie has just enough seriousness, craziness and comedy and it all balanced out the way Blairwitch project never did. It doesn't try to tell you anything, it's just a very funny troll ride through the beautiful Norway, running away from trolls and paralyzing them in the company of an epic protagonist. Awesome!

A brilliant concept marred by a horribly executed "lost footage" approach, complete with "is it on?" remarks, and let's-turn-the-camera-on-and-go-stand-in-front-of-it-in-this-moment-of-distress. That said, the idea is a wonderful one, and the design of the trolls will ensure that any scene featuring them will not disappoint.

During the first half the great one-liners just won't seem to stop coming in Trolljegeren. From then on it gets a bit trivial and looses it's drive, but that doesn't matter as long you're with Hans the Trollhunter who earns a place in filmhistory alongside all the greatest slayers. Nevermind the plot holes or the unanswered questions cause it's a movie about f-ing giant trolls and I to want to fight for the rights of the Troll hunters. Give them better working conditions and a better pay!

I am starting to hate the found footage concept but this movie is so fun I let it go. It won't amaze you but it is pretty impressively made, all things considered.

a cute lighthearted monster movie. likeable but forgettable. a few extra points for the most tolerable use of the found footage aesthetic in recent years.

Dry humor, solid sfx, a great performance by the 'hunter,' and fun explanations for what is happening all make this film quite the ride. My one beef would be how the students reacted after the mine incident...unless that is how Norwegians normally deal with crises...

Anytime a goat/sheep is used to lure a monster I crack up relentlessly. It's one of my favorite examples of dramatic irony. The audience knows the goat is going to die a horrific death, but the goat continues bleating, completely clueless about its fate. Note: several cues, the goat included, are taken from Jurassic Park. So if you're looking for an alternative to Jurassic Park, this might be your best bet.

Except for the implied tragic ending, this is actually a Comedy. Basically, it's a bunch of people driving around pretty Norwegian countryside doing improv comedy routines about trolls; on occasion, cg troll scenarios happen. That's about the gist of it. Yeah, the suspense ratchets up during the troll scenes, but the rest of the enjoyment comes from the dry riffing and kneeslappingly serious expository lectures about the natural history of trolls. (c'mon, guys, trolls are funny)

Gentle, playful ribbing of the Cloverfield-type flick that enjoys the benefit of some gorgeous locales, but it doesn't have the editing or shooting acumen of its better brethren. Poor pacing, and it has absolutely no idea how to end.

Really a hilarious mockumentary. Well made indeed since trolls really looked like trolls ought to and nice shooting in nice environment. Okay, there was several holes in the story but what a heck. The running time might be a bit shorter.

Hans ain't nuttin ta fuck wit. This is a great movie. I like that mockumentary style, though it didn't stick quite as true to it as some movies in the same style. Still, I'm a sucker for it. Good acting, a good story with good visuals. There are some real, dare I praise it this much, iconic shots here, like Hans starin' down the troll near the end, the camera showing it from a distance. Really liked that shot.

The "found footage" genre is getting tired, yet this Norwegian film manages to inject new energy into it. They even manage to squeeze in a little morality into the affair. One sequence even has the visceral punch of the Jurassic Park T-Rex scene. Even better if you're familiar with the culture of mythology which permeates the entire film. Good show!

I went in expecting some cheesy trash, boy was I wrong. This was incredibly well put together and is leagues ahead of everything else in its genre. Also, wow, Norway is a beautiful country.

Into the first few minutes, I thought it was gonna be some lame horror, but it soon turns to an insanely funny action film. Obviously, the plot is at times just pathetic, but all the laughing outweighs it easily
