Trust Me

This attempts to be meaningful & ironic, but spends too much time following Clark Gregg as the down on his luck talent agent. Great supporting cast. Not as poetic as I know they had intended. Uneven pace but it has some tension. Gregg's character is a nice guy (to a fault) & he becomes an unwitting pawn in a young actors power play. A few interesting gimmicks aside, the story is not bad, but also not convincing. Also the big plot reveal was unlikely & the ending was not satisfying.

Clearly a passion project, and it shows in how personal the film feels. This is a strength and a weakness. The movie feels earnest, but also a bit amateurish, frankly. The first half of the story is from a rather different film than where the second half is. And the ending seems like Gregg just didn't know how to conclude the movie. It has some good moments, several great actors, and a few interesting twists, but ultimately doesn't add up to anything more than the sum of its parts.

It was hard to rate this movie because it had some really good moments and really bad moments... obviously a bit of a vanity project... the ending was... dark and somewhat disappointing... I think there was potential in this project, but it didn't quite work as a movie.
