Wonder of wonders, an ATG production that (mostly) works. Very successful, winning several top notch Japanese awards. Atmosphere 11/10 with savagely crashing waves seeming to threaten to innundate all at any moment & lifeless village really shown as end of the line for the lost & desperate. Most of cast very well played (leads) she at home here (it is her hometown) despite broken-down setting and he (city boy) obviously not comfortable in deep dead rural setting. Pace variable but stick with it.
