Tsui Hark's Vampire Hunters

A mixed bag. First, the practical effects are pretty good, and there's some inventiveness in the design, the vampire burrowing underground like a monster from "Tremors" was pretty friggin' awesome. The fight scenes are even serviceable, maybe a little better. But what's lost here is all of the charm in the hallmarks of a low budget Jiangshi movie. It's got the looks of a Jiangshi movie, but not the goofy soul.

Sounds like it would be fun. But it isn't.

Mediocre kung-fu vampire flick.
