The first battle is boring since we don't know the characters in the movie yet, but it's all uphill from there. Aho is worth all the praise, but he's not the only one doing a good job here.

Saw the 5 episode limited series and although the production value seems great and decent action, the story just never caught me. I wasn't invested in any of the characters and the story although I'm sure it is an often overlook part of the Second World War.

Saw the 5 hour TV version. Director Louhimies tries to do the Hollywood treatment to finnish war film about a company of machine gun soldiers forced to retreat in the Continuation War against Russia. Film is just too long and lacks a through line, but is technically impressive. The motive for this remake is to raise the profile of Louhimies in regards to international career, but he has chosen a story only nationalist finns care about just in time for Finnish centennial celebrations. Skip it!

Technically well made film. Good actors and directing but one can question what was the reason to remake an old classic again. Okay it is a modern version but nothing more. I have seen instead of the film version, a 5 part TV edition from the same material. TV version was almost 5 hours long.
