All over the place. The writing is trying too hard to have flava, and it feels odd to the mix of this film. The humor is good in a spot or two, but this is the same underdog story you've seen over and over, with less memorable characters.

I don't care if the premise is stupid, I got a few laughs and found the overall experience mostly enjoyable. That being said I'll never watch this again.

Clever and witty ride has a story arc predictable from the get-go, but benefits from Reynolds’ likable hero, an excellent support cast and some effective and exciting uses of 3D, especially during the well choreographed racing scenes; consistently has a way of reaching expected conclusions in unexpected ways (the method by which genuine suspense is injected into the finale is kind of brilliant). Misses the freewheeling, anarchic spirit of the best of Dreamworks, but still a great fun time.

I don't even know what the hell I just watched. It makes absolutely no sense in any way and is filled with decade old pop culture references It is a bit fun to marvel a the insanity, though.

Turbo is no Citizen Kane; nor is it even Pinocchio, really. But it is much better than most of the animated films I've seen recently, and there are scenes where, if I had any kids, I'd be really proud of them if they laughed at what I was laughing at, because much of the humor will be caught only by observant young viewers who realize they are watching something more thoughtful than the fare that's usually thrown at them.

Some would say I am far too harsh on this movie. I would say, I might not have been harsh enough. Science as done to prove why I was raging so hard at this flick.

While the plot is typical, the story's details and the animation make it well worth seeing. The improbable finale at the Indianapolis 500 (*cough* product placement *cough*) is a significant letdown, for adults at any rate. The 3D is excellent throughout.

This movie had its laughs, but didn't have what i wanted.I mean yes it did have Ryan Reynolds, but it was still bad.I was really hoping it would have been better, but nouuuuuuuuu!!!! It's just another one of those Ok animated movies. Other than bad plot, alright animation, and The other slugs were just awful. Other than that it was alright. One of the only good things in it was Samuel L. Jackson. Tee hee hee.

Something tells me I'm overrating this, but I can't help it. It's bright and zesty and colorful and filled with likable characters, well-developed locales, and endearingly odd little bits of business that you don't typically find in animated fare. Predictable to a fault, but that's part of its appeal--it seems like its heart's in the right place. Exuberant and uncynical.

Some movies can transcend such a predictable premise, this one unfortunately isn't. An uninspired, cliché-ridden, lazy, unfunny attempt to rob parents of some money.

It's not that it's bad; it's just forgettable. Essentially a paint-by-numbers underdog story that adds nothing to the children's, animated, or racing film genre.

Every family film cliche thrown into a blender and regurgitated into a generic animated film. The plot shamelessly rips off Ratatouille - a better film in every department that may have relied on a few of the same cliches, but didn't have so many racial stereotypes and still had some interesting twists.

I couldn't help but smile. And I happily discarded any last stubborn logical thoughts of asphalt and physics and the goosery of a snail with nitrous oxide in his veins. Yep, this is quite simply a cute and--for all its quest for speed--cautious pic best enjoyed with little ones who readily embrace absurdity and who cheer for a checkered-flag happy ending for their brand-new squiggly pals (plugged.com)

Yeah, pretty silly premise, but the fact that this is based in a poor area of LA, where some latinos struggle to survive by selling their stuff -- tacos and stuff, you know --, gives this racer animation feature colorful and sunny scenarios and a character authenticity -- brief scene with latinos having a beer, rap music, a stoner snail -- that few cartoons dare to deliver. So, like the Snail trying to be at Indy, the mexicans are also trying to make it in America. Not that bad.

Love this good clean and entertaining movie. It's one of a small handful of movies that I would comfortably let a two-year-old watch but that's equally fun for the whole family.

Even in a silly, lighthearted family movie if the story is just too thin and stretched, and the characters just too cliche and by-the-book then the overall quality will suffer. "Turbo" is certainly evidence of this. It has laziness stamped all over it, which is a shame because it's certainly a good natured family adverture at heart. But too often it feels like a bad copy of good DreamWorks movies, or a slightly above average copy of bad DreamWorks movies, if that makes sense?

I saw this in bursts of 5-10 minutes over the course of 3 days. I also saw it with a Norwegian dub, which is generally speaking something I wouldn't wish upon my worst enemy. Still found it to be alright, though my viewing experience was never going to be ideal so I don't really feel qualified to pass judgement on this film. Visually nice, good characters, horrible premise.

I really liked this film when it came out, but watching this now, I notice how contrived the plot is. There are a lot of other elements in the film that feel familiar as well (i.e. small creatures in the real world, etc.)

Of the year's second-tier animated efforts, Turbo is the king, a good-natured, engaging and amusing romp, featuring an array of surprisingly fun characters. It's no Pixar - but it's no Epic, either, and that's a good thing.

one thing about an underdog story is that the character always end up with his dream coming true. perhaps the universal theme also occurs in the world of Snail (or is it ?).dreamworks latest animation is somehow original, yet its absurdity degrade the emotional impact that it was aimed for. compare to pixar's MU,"Turbo" feel like a slack job if not sleazy attempt to make something original. although the voice over of Paul Giamatti and Ryan Reynolds were decent enough to make it worth a while.
