An engrossing portrait of an Ohio firefighter dealing with the continuing aftermath of having been abused by a Catholic priest when he was a teenager. This guy's candor, openness, and strength are fairly awe-inspiring.

While the documentary doesn't quite offer anything that isn't already known about the Catholic Church's atrociously poor handling of sexual abuse at the hands of its priests it does offer an incredibly candid view of one of the victims of sexual abuse. Ultimately it ends like almost every case you hear about with the Church publicly trying to cover up the issues while the priests suffer no real consequences. It's downright sickening and I feel so sorry for the victims.

Doesn't have many surprises or revelations, especially not for a viewer who's already cynical about organized religion. Although I was interested in the Comes family as likeable people dealing with a difficult issue, I didn't really learn much from their experience. But it makes an interesting companion piece with Capturing the Friedmans.
