Martha Carstairs was charged with murder twenty years earlier. Now, as her daughter Edith is about to be married to Malcolm Sims Jr., son of a wealthy industrialist, a sensationalistic radio station revives interest in the case, leading to the suicide of Martha and her husband. Remake of the great Five Star Final (1931), except they change it from a news paper to a radio station running the story about the old murder case. And they cast Humphrey Bogart in the Robinson character. So far so good, right? Wrong! This really isn't a very good movie. And when you consider how great the original was this is a major let down. Bogart even feels mis-cast, which doesn't help matters. Low budget too and none of the actors was even close to matching what the original cast did.
