I liked the part where the bridge exploded

As long as you have a tolerance of old school masculinity in the shape of John Wayne in full Technicolor, Tycoon (1947) will be for you. RKO's most extravagant production when it was released, it bombed at the box office, making their most expensive film their biggest money loser of 1947. But I liked it. Had some spectacular scenes, Day was as beautiful as day, and it's John Wayne. Sometimes you need that type of macho on your screen.
