Another of Cottafavi's woman-in-search-of emancipation pictures, vaguely Ophulsian or Antonioniesque in tone. They all seem to follow a similar pattern: a woman explores romantic and sexual possibilities, then opts for solitude in the last act. (European Film Review comments)
