Fans of the graphic novel Watchmen are in for a treat with this live-action short that expands the alternate-reality mythos through a (faux) interview with Hollis Mason (Stephen McHattie), aka the original Nite Owl, who dishes on his superhero origins. Styled as a TV show promoting Mason's book Under the Hood, the pseudo-documentary also finds Silk Spectre (Carla Gugino) and other Watchmen characters reminiscing about their early careers.

A curio that basically should've been DVD extra on the Watchmen release. Contains some moments of terrible photoshop, and none of the actors bring anything more to what was a subtle and immersive element of the graphic novel.

The old TV-Show look works fine and is correctly done (but the horrible photoshopped pictures they use for Nite Owl childhood), even those comercials it has. But, even being correct and having some good details for Watchmen fans, it's also a bit too long and really, a one-time watch mockumentary. More curious than interesting, and of course, only for fans.

If you liked the movie, Under The Hood is a fun little addition to the mythos. Gah, that sounded so pretentious. Anyways, even though it has a lot of wink wink nudge moments regarding Watchmen itself, the retro contents make up for it.
