I saw the original in theaters a few years ago, and honestly, was pleasantly surprised. This installment, however, just did not keep that same energy. Switching the "cybernatural" style for a DOS horror story didn't help the enjoyment factor of the movie, as it fails, in my opinion at being either a psychological "Black Mirror" style commentary or a "Saw" -esque torture porn. Ultimately, really forgettable.

The "monitor mise-en-scene" that the Unfriended films have begun to toy with is by far the most interesting new development that mainstream found footage has had to offer in quite a long time. (I won't speak for most of the genre; I'm not well-trod.)

"Maybe we should do a guided meditation together!" As others have said, a bad movie made from a good premise--or at least one with possibilities. Not unwatchable, if you're in the right mood.

Kötü 1 gerilim filmi. İnternet cafeden laptop çalan 1 genç, laptop sahibinin karanlık işlerini keşfeder. Arkadaşlarıyla bilgilerini paylaşan zalak, sevgilisinin de kötü duruma sokar. Tam 1 senaryo faciası. Saçmalık üstüne saçmalık. Filmin tek artısı nefessiz süren kurgusu. Filmin sonunda, iyiler kaybedip kötüler kazanıyor. Bilim ve teknolojiyi kötüye kullanma konulu filmlerinden. Wifi bu filmde çekmiyor.

Falls right in that same category of the original - a bad movie with a bold concept and execution. I give it credit not only for the long take, but for the fact that it branches out from the original for a different internet-based horror villain.

Genuinely confused why a franchise with a fun gimmick and commentary on our shared online spaces (which is weirdly ignored in most media) is so maligned. Is it the plot holes? Who cares, I'm not Cinema Sins. Is it the characters? I don't know, they have as much personality as most superhero characters. Is it the ridiculous jumps in logic? Again, I'm not Cinema Sins. This movie is entertaining, concise, and genuinely speaks to the fear of living in the digital world we're building; I'm in.

Immediately liked it right from the start. Susco manages to make a better film than the original with less glitches and a more cohesive and absorbing sense of suspense. The fact this is mainly literal and not supernatural adds some cool layers of conspiracy. Sometimes it feels like an internet version of Game Night. That 911 kill is absolutely brilliant.

Just like the first one it does something really interesting with cinematic language. Of course you can nitpick the characters choices to death, but welcome to the horror genre.

Finally, a movie that acknowledges the horrors of playing Cards Against Humanity and riding the LA Metro!

I agree with the film's points about social media and the ease of ruining lives. But it doesn't bode well for a film to have not one but two gimmicks (the multiple endings and the whole taking-place-on-a-desktop thing), and this film proves no exception. It gets so bleak and nihilistic that it loses its point in a morass of thematically-irrelevant violence. I liked the depiction of Amaya, though, and that the film cast an actually-deaf actress to play her.

Unfriended: Dark Web is a gimmick with little to support it. The same cliched characters from every other mainstream horror film make the same bad decisions that result in a ridiculous situation with unrealistically large consequences. It may have a unique narrative method by telling the entire film through a laptop’s screen, but even the technological aspects of the film fall flat as the plot manipulates them to do its will. A good premise does not a good film make.
