Richard Oswald tries to do what he did with his 1919 film of the same name. Tell varies stories from the likes of Edgar Allan Poe & Robert Louis Stevenson. This time the result is more uneven, but at it's best chilling to the bone! Paul Wegener could still scare anyone to death with his madman's face! Why the '32 film isn't a total success is the way Oswald takes the stories and makes it into one continuous plot. Still a eye opening look into post-peak German Expressionism of the sound era.
