The long awaited ShogunRua biopic. Crowe is great as a psychotic MRA, and the movie is entertaining while unveiling the extent of his madness. But the third act is just so unabashedly stock, that any enjoyment I felt prior was supplanted by a yawning emptiness as I realized I was watching a commodity. It's good to be back in the cinema again but this wasn't really worth the money.

My half a year long Corona-caused cinema-celibacy was bookended by The Invisible Man and Unhinged... Seems quite fitting, and may be partly why I enjoyed this slick but by-the-numbers B-movie as much as I did. Another reason is Russell Crowe who knows exactly what kind of movie he's in, and has a ball.

This started as a legit 75-80 in the first ten minutes; it built this great tone and cranked up a cacophony of anxiety-inducing media. I was kinda in... and then the movie starts, and ballooned-up Russell Crowe spends 90 minutes being inexplicably elusive to police (possibly including teleportation), while Caren Pistorius makes as many bad decisions as possible given her situation. This quickly chewed up any goodwill it had with me, taking its place among many other unidentifiable "thrillers".

A very simple script and a fat Russel Crow beeing crazy - the perfect ingredients for a mediocre film that I enjoyed quite a bit more than I should have.

I'm unsure if this is the greatest movie about the fragility of America or if it was just bad. Either way great fun

"Exploitative fun" sums up Unhinged. Without Crowe, even the gore and dumb sadism probably couldn't save it, but here he is, larger than life (does anyone else remember his skinny naked ass in Virtuosity??) slamming his way through the movie, punching, stabbing, crashing with an exultant, drawling, "Oh yeah!"

Not a great script - rife with implausibilities and cliches (in fact it coincided with another worthwhile nod to "Duel" which came out in 2020, "Alone"), but the breakneck pace of its action and brutality combined with immaculate performances from Crowe and Pistorius, make this easily the most tooth-grindingly thrilling movie of the year.

Interesting choice for Russell Crow to play himself in a film. Jimmi Simpson, please stop being the shitty side character. You've proven you can do so much better.

Extremely, unceasingly stupid chase movie taking place in a universe with no laws or police. Remains reasonably entertaining throughout by completely refusing to acknowledge reality at any point.

Not as refined as Alone as genre action movie about everyday violence -- and Unhinged is kind of every possible act of violence in US crammed into a single story --, but a pretty effective, brutal, wacky -- Crowe is all Nic Cage losing his shit at his best here -- and somewhat fun road rage flick that runs about 81 minutes with absolutely no time to waste.

Most of all, I appreciated the constant attempts of the characters to contact the police or get to a police station. That's the logical human response - take a note, movies! Overall, Unhinged is thrilling and suspenseful, with the right amount of violence.

Sufficiently terrifying at times. The guy was barely holding back another violent eruption that is unleashed when the next person offends his sense of civility and then utterly refuses to be conciliatory about it. It really makes you think about the importance of courtesy and respect. Words matter people! It was a little ironic that after all the carnage and loss, the woman was still full of righteous indignation. A wild scary ride. Worthwhile.

Crowe does what he can allowing his manic and obsessive character build the tension necessary for a good thriller. Beyond that there was nothing that wasn't generic, everything has been done before and it became hollow and filed with bad decision making. It passes the time nicely if you want to shut your mind off which is definitely what I needed. Don't watch this one for well thought out anything.

Unhinged is as simple as it’s silly B level nature allows it to be. Unfortunately, it’s execution feels so hollow due it’s incredibly unrealistic sequences. It’s tension feels less grim, and more so kind of gross given it’s very surface level characters, which I guess in a way does serve it’s nature at it’s core. However, we’ve seen genres reinvent the wheel, and this doesn’t whatsoever. So why does this exist? This seems like a Russell Crowe wet dream, one I didn’t ask for.

Russell Crowe’s Falling Down, only he’s fat and hates women. The budget for the movie was a whopping 33M$, 13 of which was spent on his salary and the remaining 20 on gold plated fondue pots installed in every room of his Star Waggons trailer.

it's really funny how this movie touches upon an almost societal collapse from all directions and still manages to mess up understanding it. is it a fun watch? so-so. there are many genre tropes the movie employs unimaginatively, but it is never boring. the upside is it's politically so incoherent, it lends itself for a great graduate paper.

Sure, Crowe is dominating here, but this film is also complete nonsense, its form deeply at odds with its message. And sure, I get it, maybe "form" isn't the discussion to be having with a paint-by-numbers thriller, but movies like this could actually be interesting if the creative team decided to take a risk and make something that formally matched the anti-violence, anti-anger, anti-extreme message of the script.

It pretty much delivers what you’d expect, including the cheesy one liner. And while it does feel closer to Ma (a meh film with a great lead) than it does Joyride (a smart and fun thriller), it manages to have a couple of surprisingly creative moments. Although those are a bit offset by Russell Crowe’s impressive ability to murder in public with zero repercussions. If this took place in Texas, it’d probably be a lot shorter. Worth renting if it’s of interest.

Rachel is on her way to work and in a hurry. At a traffic light she honks at a strange man. This is when the man, who feels invisible to the world, becomes furious. He decides to teach Rachel a lesson that puts both her life and that of her loved ones in danger. It's the beginning of a game of cat and mouse.

Well holy crap this movie is intense. Seriously, one of most tense movies I've seen. Russel Crowe gives a great performance, and I thought Caren Pistorius did a great job really pushing the audience to feel the suspense and serious worry for what was going to happen next. I don't really understand the complaints I've seen from some people, aside from one particular line, which was silly but it worked just fine. I was thoroughly entertained and surprised by this movie.

Quite torn on this: it's a brutal film with hard hitting violence and car crashes. I respected how relentless it was, but it didn't really amount to much and left a sour taste. The concept is so simple that it makes you less tolerable for the stupid character decisions. There's also something sad in seeing former A-lister Crowe in this; with his current bear-like physique he's not getting the roles he used to, but at least he is really going all out - seemingly giving 0 f**ks about his image.
