Competing at Sundance in January 2009, Dos Santos' second feature film after his debut Glue is a visually striking, bittersweet story of love, loss, identity, sex and friendship set in cosmopolitan East London. Twenty-year-old naïve Spanish Axl comes to London to find his father who had abandoned him as a child. But instead, he finds there an underground squat, or communal dwelling, filled with an assortment of colourful, multi-cultural, free spirited characters... (iiksv.org)

Don't worry guys, i still love movies like this! Imagine Quiet City with Reprise's cinematography and editing and you pretty much get the idea. Far from original, and ever so precious, but i'd be lying if i didn't love it. Dos Santos seems to know what he's doing...

Quirky and kooky to a degree which will win it a lot of fans, but still there's something missing here. The characters are likeable, but don't make the choices you really want them to make. The storyline about his father was just abandoned on a whim. There are not enough consequences to their actions. You feel that like his characters, perhaps the director consumed so much alcohol that he doesn't really know what he wants to show or feel. Ok music, if overhyped.

Mumblecore rules! Well, not really. Whatever director wanted to say with this film, he failed to make a point.

"Unmade Beds, with its occasionally twee chronicling of pogoing in funny hats and heart-to-hearts between NSA lovers, portrays its seekers as planets aspiring to bubblehood, or at least one tandem leap into the void." - Bill Weber
