God, 80s films are great. Sight gags and satire that had me roaring aside, I was taken by the plotting, the way it kept heaping on chaos and schemes that layered into each other; planting seeds that paid off much deeper in the film. The hangout comedies of today just don't have storytelling like this. Visuals, either. From the opening tracking shot to the hundreds of cars speeding across the desert at the end, there's artistry in the widescreen composition here. Eat your heart out, Judd Apatow.

This isn't really my kind of comedy, it's too broad and the absurdity lacks imagination, but it's not bad and has a number of good laughs.

Part of the "more is funny" school of filmmaking in line with The Blues Brothers. And funny as hell it is. Russell makes this film, but it also has a surprisingly biting script, considering Zemeckis later made the sickly sweet Forrest Gump and Back to the Future, both decidedly family-oriented films. Despite some of its shortcomings, this is vintage Russell and a pretty underrated sleeper of a comedy.

An often overlooked Kurt Russell comedy that is on par with Big Trouble In Little China. If you can find it, try it out, you won't be disappointed.

I can see the Zemeckis parallels in this that show up later in the Back to the Future series: Biff-like villain with city domination plans, cool lead, trying to sneak one step ahead of the authorities, wild chase action sequence at the end. The ending was a bit incredible. The blonde women all looked alike. Most gag scenes could have been a bit shorter. Fav scene: TV ad where everything just kept getting worse---the F-bomb, tearing off the lady's dress.
