Starts out brave about the story of a prostitute and her innocent friendship with a young boy in a town that wants her out, before it takes a lackluster trail about young love. Gladys George got an Oscar nomination for her portrayal of the dame and she is the glue in this. Wish they'd stayed put in the small town and explored the morals there instead of changing the setting, age and situation to a straight soap opera that the second half turned into.
