Although it's kind of stupid to watch the same events over and over from a different point of view, this movie omits enough to keep people interested for the later parts in the movie. It's suspenseful, but too much of a novelty to have any lasting power.

The obnoxious storytelling mechanics wants to trick you into thinking this ultimately pointless thriller is much smarter and much more interesting than it really is. Told through the viewpoint of several main characters, you find out about a plot to assassinate the President of the USA, but it just gets too ridiculous for its own good and doesn't do anything as to explain why it's happening. It has a terrible ending that focuses on a weak message that only limp wristed liberals will find good.

It might be contrived and very unbelievable, but it is still an entertaining thriller with a particuarly good performance from Quaid. The flashback based plotline certainly has its ups and downs, but overall provides a decent spin for the mostpart. The action never really picks up fully until the final sequence, but once it does it provides an entertaining car chase and rounds off the story well. Overall it's good, but the take of direction has been used mainly to try and disguise glaring flaws.

A high octane, fast moving, curb jumping...borefest. I found none of the characters particularily memorable, considering I didn't even know why the villains were doing what they were doing, and even the action was fairly uninteresting.

A decent 45-minute thriller somehow crammed into an hour and a half. Other than making the simplistic plot seem more complicated than it actually is, the film's Rashomon pretensions add next to nothing to the story. The villains are shit and Forest Whitaker's wild-eyed overacting is hilarious. Respectable car chase near the end though; wish it was part of a better film.

Fell asleep during this movie, but really it wasn't that big of a deal because they KEEP REPLAYING THE SAME DAMN 35 MINUTES OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!! The best part of this movie was the first ten minutes in the tv trailer, sadly this part wasn't replayed. That news reporter had a lot of guts to tell it like it is. Dennis Quaid exiting that demolished car made me feel like I was watching the Terminator. He just wouldn't die. It just was hard to believe this storyline.

A pretty standard action-thriller, the only "unique" thing being how they force you to watch the same scene over and over again, but from different perspectives each time. Believe it or not, this is more tiresome than entertaining.

Why o why? The trailer made this look like it was going to be a thriller, one that made you think about all the clues and try to come up with the culprit. Didn't quite turn out that way. The first part of the movie was actually good, suspense was built, but it seems like they lost the script and winged the rest of the movie.

Well filmed flawed film. Instead of wrapping it all into a bow they could have made a good film. Too many silly things happen to help the film end the way it does. Ridiculous. And why does Forrest Whitaker have to cry in every film, its the same performance he's given the last few times I've seen him.

So... You are an evil genius - you've spent what must have been several years on your fiendish plot - you've killed dusins of innocent people, simply to create distractions - and ... your brilliant plan is foiled because you don't want to run over a child in your escape vehicle? Well sir, you deserve to get your ass kicked by Dennis Quaid in full-blown hammy jack Bauer mode...

Very american action movie that tries something different and kind of succeeds at it. Various characters' first person point of view tell the story, which you understand more and more with each iteration. The plot is not very good, but not too bad either. What was great though is the solid action sequences (holy shit that car chase) and the attempt at trying something different with this movie.

Vantage Point is a meaningless, frustrating motion picture. It starts out strong, depicting a terrorist attack just like we might see it on a very well-prepared news channel. It degenerates as it plays, and eventually loses all purpose by the time it falls back into thriller clichés. You're going to groan a lot with this one, as the gimmick responsible for inflating its running time -- and nothing more -- winds up making you re-watch the same series of events over and over again.

Intense, riveting. Don't turn away for a minute or you will miss something! It is paced well so that the back and forth doesn't seem jumpy or overly annoying. Every time back, you get a little more of the story and are trying to figure it out along with Dennis Quaid's character. Even when you think you know what will happen, this movie keeps you on edge until you are proven right or wrong.

Interesting concept, poorly executed and the concept(seeing the same event from diff. vantage points) gets repetitive after awhile and wears out it's welcome. Standard suspense thriller plot and phoned in acting from all involved, becomes tedious and boring after a few 'flashbacks', doesn't recover from there.

Vantage Point takes place around a crowded square in Spain, where the president (William Hurt) is scheduled to deliver a summit-opening speech. After he's riddled with gunshots on his way to his podium, the film sorts out the puzzle by looking at the individual pieces: Dennis Quaid and Matthew Fox, two Secret Service agents who grew close after Quaid took a bullet for the president months earlier.

Linear storyline is weak and too many times repeating the same thing, but Quaid and exploding action towards the end are entertaining. Whitaker's part does not serve much for the entirety and Sigourne's POV is just a calm prelude. If you do not mind too many (and over the edge) twists, it's watchable.

Thrilleric and keeps you interested...a good plot, but too twisted to be "carriable out" in real life and at least two flaws in the story, because of that the score is not over 90. I liked it a lot times three. I have to watch rashomon.

THe film starts of intruiging and I really liked the multiple perspective thing they used. The beginning was very promissing and I thought I was into a treat. Too bad the plot became somewhat monotonous. The first half is great, the second half is almost an ordinary cop flick and the ending is exciting, but over the top and completely unbelievable. Yet, I was still very interested and the minor points couldn't make me think this was a bad movie.

Started off pretty compelling. Very direct storytelling, with plenty of action and many questions raised to keep the audience confused in a good way. Unfortunately the resolution was a big let-down. Suffered from too many characters and a too constraining location. Scores well thanks to its first half, but probably not a film with too much replay value.

"Vantage Point" belongs as a '24' spin-off pilot of some sort. The film doesn't seem to give two cents about its plot - it's here to showcase a technique, showing us the same presidential assassination sequence several times from different angles before moving along with the actual story. Of course there's more than meets the eye, and there's double-crosses, but the characters are meaningless. Not a single one is well-developed. The movie never connected until the last half hour.

A very entertaining and intense movie that had me on the edge of my seat through out most of the movie. Even though this was Dennis Quaid's movie, Forest Whitaker is the one who steals the show with his character. Very well acted with another layer revealed Roshomon style from different view points, the movie is fairly predictable and the constant rewinding is rather annoying. But the fast paced nature of this film and a car chase scene that was the best since Ronin, this is a fun movie.

Which, in the end, makes this nothing more (or less) than a 90-minute, popcorn-munching diversion--a vanilla thriller topped with CGI pepper sauce. It's a prototypical PG-13 romp through high explosives and low language, in which no one learns much in the end. At least that's the way things look from my vantage point. (pluggedin.com)
