Wayne Newton steals the show with an incredible turn as a poorly tanned, badly dyed, bloated, past his prime, fake plastic looking casino cadaver (I mean crooner) with a hard-on for mature married women. Waaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiittttt a minute!

You remember the Hangover? Good. Now I've gotten Vegas Vacation out of your mind. What? You still see barely legal nipples popping out of the limo sunroof? I'm sorry. I tried. I really, really did...

Probably better than expected, but still only good in parts. All the Griswold characters are by this point in the franchise reduced to caricatures.

How are Clark Griswold's teenage children from 1983 still teenage children in 1997? This movie's pretty poor. However, Beverly De'Angelo has maintained no less than 95% of her MILFiness from '83 to '97, and I'll have words with any man who says otherwise.

I liked this a bit more on re-watch. It's still clearly worse than Christmas Vacation or the original. The humor has been toned down a notch or two from the (un-PC) previous films, but I thought that the first half worked quite well and had some genuinely funny bits. It does run out of steam towards the end, but it's still worth a watch for seeing the gang together one more time - and being perhaps the last proper Chevy Chase starring role.

Fairly bland with only a few redeeming scenes and storylines- Russ' escalating escapades with a fake ID being one of them. Chase seems to have lost his spark as Clark, who is less likeable and less funny than ever before, and Quaid with Cousin Eddie just feels like he's trying too hard to mimic his famous character from days gone by. The whole movie feels too old and too tired: a half-hearted attempt at re-enacting the best aspects of the Vacation franchise, with a lame ending to boot.

There are a couple funny moments, but not that many. Certainly not enough to redeem the complete contrived happy ending, where everyone instantly gives up everything they were enjoying, and the family benefits off of someone's death with no consequences.

This has got to be the worst of the Vacation series. I mean, not by a lot, but I'm pretty sick of it all by now. This one brings absolutely nothing new. Chevy Chase's character learns the same moral he learned in the previous three movies. It just rehashes the same old jokes, and none of it is funny.

V.V was a blatant last ditch effort to save Chase's ailing career. In 97, it was a desperately dated and sanitised sequel bordering on a family comedy that lacked the edge of the previous installments and portrays Vegas with a strangely unjaundiced eye. It gets by on the likeability of the cast and Clark's timeless goofiness as well as ample screen time for Quaid as his clueless redneck cousin. There aren't enough quality jokes to recommend it, but for fans of the Griswold's it's passable. Just.

Second best of the Vacation movies (after European Vacation) and probably the most underrated of them all. Much more situational comedy than the slapstick-laden Christmas Vacation, and funnier as well. Bizarre and stupid yet timelessly hilarious. Also has anyone else noticed that Beverly D'Angelo just seems to get hotter and hotter with each of the Vacation films?
