I just wanted more campy, ludicrous storytelling like the first movie, and that’s exactly what I got. I was actually surprised to see some genuine attempts at character development between the leads though. I do think this is super fun and even better than the first film, but I would like to see a comic book accurate Carnage in all of his bloody glory someday over this. I don’t go into these Venom movies expecting good storytelling. I’m here to laugh and enjoy myself. I did just that.

All of the Carnage stuff is hot garbage it looks like Woody is channeling a diseased dog dick. The sudden gay rom-com Venom film we didn't know we wanted. The ghouliest character in Marvel and we get a PG13 thing, the Marvel Knights label version of this is disgusting.

In some ways I like this better than the first one. Venom's dialogue is a lot more clever and relevant but still predictable. Carnage ended up being fairly bland and not scary, though Woody Harrelson imbued a bit of creepiness as a condemned Sideshow Bob before Carnage arrived. The police reaction here seemed slow and unrealistic. Michelle Williams seducing Peggy Lu. Dan is still the man. I wish this had a R rating. Fav scenes: Venom with chickens at home; Venom being chicken at the church.

One of the worst moments comes when someone tries to rap Eminem’s title track from the first film, poorly - I know an instrumentalist casting company, I can help. The Venom films are a masterclass in violent mediocrity. That Serkis, Hardy, and otherwise brilliant people attach themselves symbiotically to this buttugly-CGI, poorly-paced monstrocity is beyond me. Yet - my Venom voice is banned in the house right behind my Walken/Stewart (they become the same) and Lynch impressions, so props there.

I've said for years that I'd take a bad movie that's interesting over a good movie that's boring, and Venom 2 is now my prime example. Tom Hardy is all over the place, the film barely cares about its own plot, but the pieces that work (Hardy and anyone playing up the campiness, the humor and impulsivity) help paper over the choices that don't. Spoiler: Given the third-acts of both Venoms devolve into CGI slugfests, it makes total sense he's now officially MCU canon.

Where the first film's weirdness felt spontaneous and unexpected, the odd-couple humor and campy moments feel more cynically calculated and even pandering here. Still, regardless of the intent, Venom singing George Gershwin is amusing, and the continued display of nastier-than-usual superhero violence (albeit at a PG-13 level) is welcome. I ultimately prefer the wobbly oddness of Fleischer's entry over Serkis' slicker but overly self-aware sequel, but a trashy good time was had during both.

Some really funny jokes and good action sequences, improving upon the first. I like Hardy a lot even if these films don't use him as well as they should, and I enjoy this version of Venom, but the film as a whole--just like the first--feels like some of the early MCU movies. Entertaining, never boring, but kind of a mess with no real depth. Plot is all over the place and the writer put no effort into explaining anything. On the plus side though, it's breezy. Definition of a popcorn flick I guess

Never a big Venom fan, but I know enough to know this franchise is really leaning into being as kid-friendly as possible. But no matter how much cash this rakes in, the Odd Couple for Kids approach really put me off as the jokes didn't work for me & Super Nice Guy Eddie Brock's ability to accept sharing his body w/ a homicidal alien makes no sense. The only thing I found interesting was how likable they kept making the Dan character, but then I realized it's just to keep "queer coding" Venom.

With all of the best parts of the first film still present, I found this very enjoyable. Honestly, both of these films are guilty pleasures at this point. I found the villain to be way more entertaining than the last, even though he was pretty cringey at times. I kind of liked the plot aspect of Eddie and Venom being apart and growing and having some actual development. This movie is far from perfect, but still a nice upgrade from the first. I give 7 Eminem songs out of 10.

This Venom series is creatively distinct from the main MCU, not just because of a different production company, but because it's an inherently darker character in a darker world. While the difference is apparent, and I'm clearly a fan of this brand of superhero, I feel that the creators haven't leveraged the darkness enough, they held back the movie with the PG-13 rating. Regardless of unrealized potential, this movie was still and absolute thrill ride and Hardy and Harrelson were fantastic.

Dumb as hell and really dragged down by its weak supporting cast. Its humor is god awful where every joke is "haha, Venom wants to be a hero but can't resist his urge to eat people. What a Clown!" This is only somewhat salvaged because they make Venom such an entertaining personality that these jokes aren't outright insufferable, but it probably would be if the film dragged that out more. Aside from that, the film boasts boring, tepid action scenes and an incredibly lame take on Carnage.

Full disclosure, circle of trust: I didn't know Andy Serkis directed this. That was a pleasant in-credits surprise. After the first, you (should) know what you're signing up for: a campier-than-usual superhero romp that tries to throw some story and sentiment at you. I'm not going to thumb my nose at this and pretend it wasn't entertaining because it was, and seeing how much Tom Hardy is doing on these movies (performing, writing, producing), he's passionate and invested in them. I'm in.

There's something off about Let There Be Carnage. The conflict in the 1st act feels so contrived it's almost painful to watch; while the re-establishing of relationships between characters from the 1st film is just dull. Hardy has a few good moments later into the film, but it's too little too late. Harrelson seems to be having fun, and his chaotic physical performance is good. Harris' character feels like a plot device more than anything else. A few enjoyable moments in a forgettable film.

Let There Be Carnage is more so the same as the first one. If you like the banter and chemistry that Eddie/Venom share, you’ll probably have a blast on a entertainment level. You can really tell Hardy has fun with these movies. Unfortunately, there actually isn’t much of an actual story here, as a lot of this shorter (thank god) runtime is just them two bitching at each other like a married couple. Carnage is fine, but everything is so surface level that I feel kind of empty about this.

I loved the first one, but this one just felt like a disjointed mess. There were things that felt like they didn't belong, things that felt like they were missing... I dunno if this is because of studio cuts or what, but I was pretty disappointed overall. The best bits remain the Venom and Eddie interactions which keep me from scoring this lower.

Naomie Harris pops up as Harrelson's childhood girlfriend (try to ignore the fact that she's clearly 15 years younger than him) with inexplicable super powers of her own. Harrelson's reasons for wanting revenge on Hardy are clear, so there's no need for this extra plot line, nor is there any need for her to be seeking revenge against a cop who just happens to be investigating Harrelson.

It was alright, I enjoyed the tone. A lot of silliness, just don't think about the plot too much and let the movie's fun sides carry you. If this was released 15 years ago it would have been absolutely perfect, nowadays it's more of a throwback movie… luckily the mid credits scene saves that by making the whole thing an actual throwback. Can't wait for more with this character!

What. A. Mess. It felt like it didn't really have a narrative to follow, and ended up being a lacklustre film. This is a shame because Tom Hardy is fine, and Woody is probably a great casting choice, but we never really get to see the potential it could have had.

Messy and ungainly sequel does surprisingly little of interest with Harrelson's "Carnage" leaving him as a fairly bland, run-of-the-mill "psychotic" villain coming to life every now and then with some iffy CGI; some decent action scenes and amusing running (and bitchy) commentary from Venom himself makes this watchable, but its lurching pacing, and inability to develop its one-joke ideas, leave it flat and unmemorable. Nice to see Williams back presumably to satisfy contractual requirements!

I will need to rewatch the first Venom movie but from my recollection it was much more entertaining than this. Don't get me wrong, this was an enjoyable watch and at no stage did I get bored (which I often do in this stype of film), but a lot of the "banter" was a bit hit or miss and I would have loved to have been shown more about the Woody Harrelson and Naomie Harris characters as they were perhaps the most interesting parts of the film. Not the best superhero film I've seen but not the worst

It's not a great movie. But it''s an entertaining movie, and my rating is based on that. There are a lot of funny moments and that was stuck out for me most. The action bits are a bit too fast and random to make too much sense out of, so that apart from a few cool parts, it feels it's just a lot of people getting smashed into/through walls.

I really love music & songs of this movie like in first one's Eminem song. A truly awesome film. Tom Hardy made sure the film stayed closer to the comics and it really payed off, it was a pleasure to watch. It had a lot of action. Some new and very interesting characters were introduced, and I enjoyed them very much. I loved the relationship between Eddie & Venom the fights & differences in opinions & life-goals. The storyline of Eddie & Venom & with the main 'hero' storyline intertwined nicely.

Significantly better than the first movie, but still flawed. The dynamic between Eddie and Venom was one of the only redeeming parts of the first movie, and I think they leaned into it a little too much at the start here. Beyond that, the movie is mostly fun, but the story is extremely rushed, and Carnage doesn't really get used in any interesting way. The movie really needed to be rated R, and longer. The ending was better than the first though, and the credit scene certainly is interesting.

A lot of critics noted this film's "lean" run time and the fact that this is the shortest comic book film in some time. What others call lean, I view as choppy. This film has very bad flow. It's obvious to me that this movie went through many re-writes during production and post and then was edited with a very heavy hand. The result is a throwback to an era where superhero movies were campy and kitschy. AKA: Bad.

Very much a sequel made purely for those who enjoyed the first movie. Carnage isn't exactly a retread of the last film but it plays the same way in terms of humour, action scenes are a forgettable plot. Harrelson is a better antagonist than Khan was but still nothing special. If you weren't taken by Venom previously this will do nothing to convince you differently but if more of the same sounds appealing to you this will hit the mark.

A sequel in which they accentuated what people did love most in the first movie; the internal bickering between Tom Hardy and Venom, in such a manor that what worked well in small dose doesn't anymore in large portions. Coupled with a mess of plot and an annoying Woody Harrelson makes that Tom Hardy and some okay action scene are the only reasons to watch this.

Don't think Serkis had much more to do than make tons of MCU connections and just follow the playbook, but he at least doubles down the weirdness in order to have Hardy and Harrelson as crazy, talky counterparts. It's just too bad there is simply no room for a straightforward body horror Venom movie, but I guess this is the most accomplished thing we could get -- a kinda cool, generic, hey-just-dumb-fun (Carnage shouting the subtitle during climax is just bliss) 2004 superhero flick made in 2021

It's really about as bad as a sequel can get. It offers nothing in the way of character development. Kasady is a one dimensional villain and the symbiote looking cool is not enough to distract you from the fact the majority of the film focuses on being overtly humorous instead of being dark. Plus with the uncertainty of what comes next and how that plays out it seems like poor decision after poor decision went into this movie. It's very poorly written. Inexcusable effort really.
