Germany had their golden age during the silent years of the 1920s, and especially their German expressionism films has gained legendary status. That doesn't mean that every film they made in that style are classics. Hanns Kobe's Verlogene Moral (1921) is an example of that. There are a few tragic scenes to give it a little mood, but overall this is a dreary melodrama which doesn't reach any peaks whatsoever.
