Victims of Sin

You can't say you've seen a melodramatic musical until you've seen this. Take a rather simplistic scenario (club dancing girl has a baby), jazz it up with some incredible music and dancing (fav: the clam mambo), stick in some von Sternberg-style lighting with some frantic scene transitions, and you still haven't really described the film.

Men are from Mars, women are from Venus, and ViCTiMAS DEL PECADO is from Heaven.

Ninón Sevilla can dance all film long as far as I'm concerned. Those moves tells a story on its own! Add to that some bad men surrounding her and a abandoned baby and there is a lot to take in. Emilio Fernández does a strong job with this one, perhaps only missing one big scene to make it an all-time classic.
