Rubbish, but so enjoyable in many ways. Seeing Sly and Caine rub shoulders with the god that was Bobby Moore is a real treat, as well as seeing some of the other footballing stars of the era fail miserably in the acting attempts. Daft and implausible, but fun.

It's the fun, daft kind of rubbish. Rocky as goalkeeper? Ming the Merciless as German PR officer? Carribean Pele? Sure why not...

Very predictable and naive, but oh so enjoyable. Quite manipulative in inciting emotion, but it works (which is funny for a film supposed to depict a propaganda game of football). Laugh-out-loud moments, especially at the football game. Pele, Bobby Moore and the rest - brilliant. I am not sure what von Sydow and Michael Caine were doing in the film. Sly as a goalkeeper? Priceless. If you can pay little attention to the naive writing and enjoy the film for what it is, you will have a good time.

I've seen this many times and consider it one of my favorite movies ever. So entertaining, great ensemble cast, feel-good and memorable music score by Bill Conti.

Let's get a bunch of guys who can't act and some guys who can't play football, and then camp it up a notch. Honestly, the football match sequence is fucking hilarious, and that's not how they want you to see it.

Extremely cheesy, but a lot of fun. Pelé's acting is as good as Sly Stallone's goalkeeping, and you can have a good time trying to spot various members of the 1980/81 Ipswich Town team lurking in the background. It also has the second best rendition of La Marseillaise in film history.

Ah, vá! Nem é ruim assim, só não é tão bom quanto um Huston deveria ser, embora coloque as questões políticas que sempre envolvem jogos de futebol num patamar metafórico excelente.

When it comes to P.O.W. films, "The Great Escape" leaves it in the dust. When it comes to sports films, it pales in comparison to the "Rocky"s and "Rudy"s. It's 2nd-rate in all aspects.

A very silly movie indeed, but so exceedingly light-hearted and fun that it really doesn't matter all that much. Sly playing soccer? Sure! Pelé not having more than three lines and still managing to act them very poorly? Why not! The allies playing so well even the Nazi has to stand and cheer? But, of course! It's objectively not very good, but at the right time and place it's sure to delight.
