Pretty powerful all around with excellent photography and editing. It's an unfinished story because it's still happening. Some pretty demoralizing moments showing people at their greedy worst. But there is light, as well. Good show. Deserves its nomination.

This doc does a very good job of elucidating a complex geopolitical premise and also sells its human vitality. It turns out colonialism has both changed and stayed the same in the Congo, and foreign institutions are still down to bilk it for all its resources and leave it a violent mess in the process. The film is overall a little too unfocused, with maybe one character too many to whom we continually return but it's understandable given how contrived the dynamics between all the parties are.

This is a very important topic, and this film goes out of its way to tell you that over and over again.

A very haunting documentary of what is happening in Congo with the continued exploitation of its natural sources. It is amazing to see people who are so dedicated to protecting these animals that they'd be ready to die for them. Documentaries like these remind me how important is to educate oneself of the different things happening in this world.

Well made documentary about the brave people willing to die for a national park in Congo.

It's a good documentary with some breathtaking photography. The message is important, depressing as it may be. Actually quite an emotional watch, showcasing humanity at its worst, but it's good to see some people standing up against it - even though they are risking their lives by doing so. Heartbreaking to realize this is still very real and going on today. On a technical level I think this documentary could have been a little shorter while maintaining the same powerful message.

It is beautifully and courageously shot, marginally breathtaking and radically insightful. It shows us the naked truth: Today's world is governed by conglomerates, which will do anything possible -even ignite civil war- to reach their goals. Still it leaves us with a feeling of 'Oh, dear'. It is a shame that all we can do is to watch it.

The kind of documentary that at the end gives an internet link to find out how you can help the cause. That's some dedicated people working to save the national park and the last gorillas living there. The most exciting part of the documentary is the war footage they caught. Some hardened cynical part of me wants to say "Some species are on the brink of extinction? You don't say...". "There are armed conflict in Africa and foreign businesses are involved? Who could have known...".
